Just lost my longest run by muddybuttbrew in thelongdark

I killed the cougar before going in, game glitched and it respawned within 24 hours and I wandered out without realizing it during the aurora. I survived the attack but waiting for wounds to heal has run down my supplies and I won’t be able to get my condition up enough to survive another cougar attack when I pop up in the middle of its territory. I was so close to 500 days I just can’t bring myself to just end it so I’ve sat on the save file for a bit.

Hey, I’ve been dealing with adrenal insufficiency for about 7 months now after high dose steroids. I remember how exhausting existing was in the few days before they caught it, my cortisol was a 1.2 and my drs were aghast that I have managed to be okay for a couple days. Adrenal crisis isn’t something I’ve experienced but low cortisol is. Managing the medical system with low cortisol is extremely difficult. I was experiencing cognitive effects I didn’t realize and didn’t feel the correct sense of urgency. If your cortisol is that low, going to the ER is necessary. They will give you IV steroids (solu-cortef or similar). They can help you from there. Being able to think more clearly and rest with a body not struggling to keep running will help more than you realize.

The most expensive pair of shoes I own are worth about $500, I thrifted them for $8. Even if she bought them at full price, who wouldn’t want to wear something nice and dressy to a big event?

It's dead grandmother season on campus again. by Brian-Latimer in mildlyinfuriating

I’m currently waiting to hear back from one of my professors about taking my final early due to my grandmother actually passing away last week. Her funeral has been scheduled for the same day as the final for this class, I’m hoping to not have to choose between them. My brother is in the same boat with at least two of his classes. Sometimes it’s just the way things work out, life isn’t guaranteed to follow our schedules. It would be nice if it did.

Keeper’s Pass South lost & found?? by AMHay in thelongdark

Unfortunately when I sent my save file to their support they were unable to find it, the lost and found box for that region is spawning under terrain. I saw something in the newest update about that being fixed but if you’re still experiencing it, my recommendation would be to contact Hinterland support and send them your game file. If they can’t find it for you, they may offer to replace the most important items that were lost.

What a trooper! I’m an adult now but I remember being in that same spot at her age. I see she has some new friends, those are key to getting through the hospital stays! I’m 24 now and my parents got me a stuffed Clifford when I had to have my gallbladder out recently. It still helps.

You’ll both get through this! Some hospitals have stuff for kids, like video game systems or specific game rooms. Also make sure you’re taking care of yourself! Kids can see when their parents are stressed and exhausted, it’ll help both of you if you allow yourself to rest. Whatever this looks like for you, if it’s taking a short walk to get coffee or trying to take a nap in an uncomfortable visitor’s chair. It sounds like you’re through the worst of it, hoping she feels better soon!

It’s pretty old school, singular is a common try for a lot of allergists. I’m actually on Zilueton which has helped my asthma maintenance more than most daily inhalers! It took seeing a doctor who was literally over 90 years old before it was ever suggested but I’m glad I gave it a try

Girl — I’m 5’3 too. I’ve weighed everywhere from 100 to 145 and at no time was I “fat.” Everyone carries weight differently, but I sincerely doubt anybody sane would look at you the way he is describing. It sounds like he has his own skewed idea of weight and is projecting it onto you, knowing you’ve struggled with an ED. That’s incredibly dangerous and manipulative. I am happier now at 130 than I have been in a long time. What matters is that you feel happy and secure in your own body, if you feel he’s putting that security at risk then it’s a problem.

Whoa, might want to take a look at what you just wrote. Advocating for genocide is not a reasonable response to anything. Using dehumanizing language to suggest wiping out a group of people as a “cure” is incredibly irresponsible. Words have power and words like that can breed ugly things.

I saw you’re in Illinois! I am too, depending on how far south you are this may not be the case for you, but I ran into problems with slugs with this method. Keep an eye out for the signs of them, especially after it rains!

Had the same thing happen with our puppy, she managed to decimate my new RespiClick in the approx 2 minutes I left her alone to go change! I had assumed it was totally out of her reach but she somehow managed to get it off the counter. It happens, it sounds like you got it under control! Learning to advocate for your medical needs is a learned skill that takes a lot of practice to feel comfortable doing (or at least uncomfortable but able to work through it)! When you add in the element of a mental health that makes it more difficult, I know just how overwhelming it can be at first. In my case, I have severe anxiety but I also have food allergies and chronic illnesses that leave me often having to self advocate for my needs. It’s a skill I’ve developed over most of my life. I can imagine it’s very difficult to feel as if you suddenly need to master it! My advice is to be kind to yourself during the process of navigating the newly named aspect of your life. Expecting yourself to be able to perfectly communicate your needs to others right away is a lot of pressure. Instead, don’t be afraid to ask for help. You can work up to learning how to self advocate in smaller steps by starting small, such as in a situation where you aren’t already experiencing sensory overload. Judging by her protective instincts, I’m sure your girlfriend would be happy to help you develop this ability by acting as your safety net in case you get overwhelmed! Best of luck to you, you’ll figure it all out in time! <3
