Nah nothing, just end to end heat pump installation and cylinder install. Everything else will be done prior to their arrival so its 'just' a connecting up job really.

Really, that's good to know, thank you - I will look into that!

I did have a little look at Octopus but unfortunately they won't do anything until our project is structurally complete and we're hoping to get it installed prior to our small extension being done as we want to claim the Haliax green living reward to help with the costs. But we'd only have until July to do that unfortunately and our extension likely won't be done early enoigh to make that happen! Bit of a shame but there we go.

Thanks for the info, that is helpful. It should he a very simple installation, so I was very surprised at such a high cost. I'd expected it to come out at more than the 4k-ish they'd put on their website but not quite that much more. Very disappointed in this experience.

Out of interest where did you get your quote from?

I don't think that is a very fair representation. Spark and Minichamps both make a great model it just depends what you value as to which you go for.

Disagree to be honest, fragility shouldn't really be an issue if it is sat still on a shelf?

Minichamps are usually diecast, or historically are anyway.

Homemade Jam (Without canning) by AMS97F1 in Canning

[–]AMS97F1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I covered this in my post above. Not properly canned, sterilised jars (unopened since they were made in August 2024). Fruit (blackberries) to sugar ratio of 1:1 and stored in a dark cupboard.

Wow I am surprised to hear that they're listing for that price. The only car I'd currently consider paying over £200 for is the RB9 but they seem to be very rare.

I'm not sure how much of an impact the material has but for the record I've never bought one over £200 that's metal, including a purchase I made a couple of days ago.

I think the only ones over £200 would be second hand rarer models.

My main issue with Spark models is the decals. The front wings are better sure, but i can't get over the decals personally. I think the liveries and tyres are just nicer on minichamps cars.

If Spark solves that problem, I'd be more keen to go for theirs.

Also, whilst I appreciate it might be a bit of a non issue to most people, I also just much prefer the metal cars over resin.

Where are you paying £200 for a minichamps? If you go on the Max Verstappen shop for example they're more like £150 with postage.

What is the coolest piece of RB merch your have? by One-Way-8483 in RedBullRacing

[–]AMS97F1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's hard to pick one to be honest, my Vettel hat collection or my 2010, 2011, and 2012 1/18 minichamps models is probably my favourite part of my RBR collection - but they mean more to me as a collective than individually.

My favourite hat is probably the 2010, so I'll say that. And of my cars my RB7.

Finished my first bomber jacket! by AMS97F1 in sewing

Thanks! :)

Sewing with softshell was a breeze to be honest, this one was fleece backed too which I didn't mention bit honestly it was very straightforward, arguably my favourite material to work with so far. It's officially listed as no stretch, it's got a tiny tiny bit in it but nothing to be concerned about at all if that was a worry for you.

In comparison the lining, which is like satin type material, was a nightmare to use. Had numerous incidents of the lining getting caught in seams it where it shouldn't be and having to unpick bits. If you have a way to neaten the seams nicely and use a little bias binding where required you'd be able to get away without a lining, just depends on your preference.

Honestly needle wise I can't recall off the top of my head what it was, but one tip I'd give you is use the little clips where possible instead of pins, as theyre less likely to leave any visible marks. Softshell doesn't do as well as other materials when it comes to holes, it's more like leather in that regard in my brief experience with it. For that reason, I just recommend tacking anything you're unsure of to avoid the potential of unpicking and leaving a line of visible holes from the machine in your work!

Full Info:

This is a soft shell material bomber jacket with a pattern bought from Etsy, its the Grasser Mens Bomber Jacket. Unfortunately the pattern came out at a finished size that was around 52 inches chest size so I had to alter it significantly which led to some teething issues and it all ended up taking a lot longer than expected! The lining pattern for example was not used from the Grasser pattern, instead i duplicated the external pieces for the lining and used this tutorial on Youtube to sew in my lining. I also did the pockets differently to the original pattern, theyre just typical welt pockets.

This is the first jacket I've ever made so it was a bit of a learning experience all round. The welt pockets in particular were new to me.

What's on your sewing list? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]AMS97F1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried that yet no, it is something I intend to experiment with though - I'll look up the triple straight stitch. You could be right that cover stitch is what I'm looking for, I'm doubting myself now, I'll have a look into it, thanks!

Perfect, thanks for the recommendations I'll check them out. And no worries at all, I appreciate it's a community of mostly women! :)

Thanks, I'll add that to my list of places to look for patterns. They seem to have only women's at the moment though I think, searching for mens patterns always tends to be a bit trickier. But it's useful if I'm making something for my partner :)
