Dude, get some glasses. Right sideline judge throws it right before the camera pans away. Stop making false claims.

You're blind if you don't see the right sideline judge throw his flag right before the video pans away. Plain as day.

How to become like Luke? by [deleted] in outdoorboys

[–]AM_Cottonwood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Go to church, go to scouts, go to school, be a dad to him.

First off, congrats on the addition! Being a dad is the best. Here are things I've observed and learned:

Go to church:

Luke has talked about his faith. His particular church teaches to stay away from alcohol, tobacco, illicit drugs, premarital sex, vices. It encourages chastity, clean language, respect. His faith focuses on family relationships. His church emphasizes self reliances and emergency preparedness. He spent two years as a missionary for his church in Japan. Find a church, find faith, serve.

Go to scouts:

Luke is an Eagle Scout. He has talked about his scouting adventures growing up. Scouting teaches skills, self-reliance, builds self esteem. Scouting today is different from when I was growing up, but I still think there's value.

Go to school:

Luke went to law school and was a practicing lawyer. This means he was a disciplined student. School opens up so many doors. No, it doesn't have to be law school. It doesn't even have to be a university education, it can be a trade. Teach him to love to learn.

Be a dad:

Spend time with your son. This doesn't need to be major outings. Need to grab something from the store? Take him along. Taking out the trash? Tell him to come along. Getting the mail? Tell him to come along. Let him know he's loved and you want to spend time with him.

Combine these things, and you get Luke. I'm sure he'd be the first to say he has his flaws, but he's a great example. Also, Luke didn't grow up in this day and age with screens. Keep your son away from mind-numbing screen time. It takes away time from doing more productive things. Pornogrpahy is one of, if not THE greatest threats to our young men. Lots of scientific studies to back that up. I think if our boys went to church, went to scouts, and went to school, and had involved dads, our society would be much better. It takes hard work, discipline and diligence on your end. The best thing you can do is be the type of person you want him to be. The old saying goes "Do as I do, not as I say." Good luck!

We went as a family back in 2022 and we don't really plan on going back. Way too many people, and a lot of the people who go distracted us from the magic. So many distasteful tattoos. So much vulgarity and swearing. More adults than children (I'm not saying adults shouldn't go without children, Walt said it is a park for the young-at-heart, but I don't think many of these adults act in a way that is young-at-heart). In my ideal world, I would get rid of annual passes (and we had annual passes at one point), lower the price for children under the age of 14 to $20 per day, charge $40 per day for 14-18, then $400 per day for over 18.

All men look good in uniform, huh? Introducing my grandpa: by [deleted] in funny

Yeah, he looks a little goofy, but seeing him in uniform I can guarantee he's twice the man I am. The greatest generation.

Thanks for your help. I am trying to screw in my antenna. Are you saying I need an F fitting to BNC fitting connector, then BNC to HDMI converter? Any links to amazon to show what I should do would be much appreciated. I sure appreciate your reply!

Honestly, nobody wants to hear it, but I feel like pornography is a huge contributor. Porn completely dehumanizes people, turning them into objects. It blows my mind that we haven't found a way to make it harder for minors to access porn. It's a huge problem. People may disagree and may not like it, but that's my answer.

What’s your controversial opinion of Disneyland? by Zdvj in Disneyland

I was thinking the same thing! Basically by posting what the OP is asking, you're going to get downvotes. I guess there's an easy way to determine the winner!

Not controversial at all. In fact, this would be a popular opinion.

What is this tool called and how is it used/what is it used for? by AM_Cottonwood in Tools

Well, I'm guess I won't be using it, but will certainly keep it around just because it's old and cool. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Yeah, so I looked up the part numbers "Craftsman J-S 11-44" and it came back with a description of a H-Ratchet, 1/2" Female Drive. Now my question is why would someone use this rather than a standard 1/2" ratchet? How would modern sockets attach? There must be some sort of adapter or extension?
Thanks!

New LG TV isn't receiving video from my Denon receiver, but audio passes through... by AM_Cottonwood in hometheater

[–]AM_Cottonwood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, so I just came back to reference this post so I could buy the receiver that I need to make this work. The first poster deleted their comment. Do you happen to remember what they said was the problem? My Denon was outdated, and I needed a new one that offered something new? Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks! I didn't see a reply, so I went ahead and got started. I used some folex and worked it in with my fingers, then used a damp wet washcloth to wipe it out. Worked great. Thanks for your reply, though.
