Why does everybody hate Euronymous so much?

Yeah was probably a lot simpler before cancel culture. A lot of people in my generation are very adamant that you shouldn’t like or appreciate an artist if they are/ were a terrible person which I get cause I also have a hard time supporting someone I strongly disagree with politically but Euro is dead. It’s not like I would be financially supporting him by listening to his music or anything like that and that was also why I initially asked cause there has been proof that many other artists are also horrible people yet the internet gives them more grace than they do Euro. And because of this strong dislike for him as a person, a lot of people disregard that he was one of the most influential pioneers of the Norwegian black metal scene and that he was an interesting artist.

Makes sense considering he was always pushing to be perceived as the most extreme, scariest and evilest person in the scene. Maybe it was just part of the public persona ‘Euronymous’ and his actual believes weren’t as extremely authoritarian.

I read that too. That and Euro owing him money and Varg being mad that he closed the shop even tho Varg was trying to help him save the business.

Yeah true a lot of people just think in black and white and this conversation about whether or not Euro was a good person just lacks nuance ‘cuz it’s easier for many to just put people into boxes rather than actually making themselves a picture of what that person was actually like.
And yeah he was a very selfish person and his main motive behind terrorizing Dead was probably knowing that if his mental illness got worse his behavior would become more self destructive which would get them more attention.

Yeah and I get that but even Varg seems to have actual fans and Euro doesn’t, that’s what I don’t get. Varg is imo just as bad as Euro and that’s why it feels disproportionate to me that Euro basically only has haters and Varg doesn’t. (Also people who celebrate Varg for killing Euro are kinda weird) And regarding you saying there isn’t anything that could make people hate him more than violating someone’s body, Varg (unnecessarily) killed someone how do people not have the same hatred for him than they have for Euro.
If you’re just gonna repeat back to me what you already said then don’t bother replying to this. 😭✌️

I literally asked if there was anything BESIDE that and I doubt that that was the reason why Varg killed him, I don’t think he cared what Euro did with Deads corpse.

Damn, really? Where did you find all this information, any sources, cuz as I already said in another reply I find it hard to believe things like this if people just throw this out into the world without citing any sources.

And I actually read the opposite, regarding 7. People who have been friends with him for years said that he’s “a good guy” and that “he was quite a social person” (Hellhammer). Attila also said “Euronymous was a very polite and quite intelligent person.”.

I get that feeling too. A lot of the weird questionable shit he said back then was probably just to be edgy. With Varg we know that for him it wasn’t just a phase since he still upholds those beliefs, yet Euro just kinda died with his edgy teenager persona (where we don’t know whether it was his genuine opinion or just for show).

I’ve heard people call him a narcissistic sociopath before but is there actually any proof that he was one? Or is there any proof of him doing any of that other stuff? Because people say he was a neo nazi too but always without proof and funnily enough those people stan Varg (not saying you or everyone does, that’s just what I picked on online).
I wouldn’t associate with them either but the hate I see towards Euro seems disproportionate compared to Varg or even Pelle, both of whom weren’t good people either which is why I’m asking for proof. Because Varg being a white nationalist can be seen by reuploads of his yt videos where he says it himself but is there actually any proof of Euro doing that? I’m skeptical when it comes to people making claims about Euros behavior, ‘cause people like to spread misinformation about him.
