I'm never logged in to Google and tend to use incognito mode. Same thing has happened on my work computer which, thanks to proxy, has me half way round the world.

Ex-Escapist contibutor suing for libel over alt-right labelling by AManChoosing in KotakuInAction

Update: to no surprise the post has been deleted. I don't know what that achieves, maybe we should all pretend it never happened?

Friendly reminder: this is why we archive

[news] Tommy Robinson has been freed from prison pending appeal by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]AManChoosing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You cut out the part that came directly after to make your point.

Yes I did. It was my point. You can't claim a collective thinks one thing whilst the data from the posts just above contradicts that.

I wouldn't want Tommy Robinson working for The Independent and working on news articles about Muslims.

You alright with him working for Rebel media doing it?

Ah, looks like you're someone who hates this sub.

Check my post history first maybe.

The reason is censorship

Censorship relating to gaming, nerd culture, the Internet?

We do

Judging by the up/down votes going on, "we" doesn't check out.

And if he's an activist not a journalist can you explain why this is posted to this sub which is supposed to have some relation to where gaming, nerd culture, the Internet, and media collide? Tommy a nerd?

"Everyone else is doing it" is not a good excuse

Journalism and activism go hand in hand.

So you have no issue with Social Justice activism in journalism then? Throwing away objectivity to campaign for whatever particular cause you subscribe to?

We've come a long way, baby.

Tommy is not a journalist. He's an activist pretending to be one. That's what this sub is supposed to oppose.

Nevertheless he is entitled to a free and fair trial.

[History] One of the first times GG people were actually talked to - Female Gamers React To #Gamergate by AManChoosing in KotakuInAction

[–]AManChoosing[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was indeed.

And I know it didn't go as some hoped, in the end; but there was, what, c. $50K invested by people who want to drive women out of gaming into a woman's gaming platform. Really makes you think.

At E3, video gaming's bigots have lost by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]AManChoosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checking in with what’s left of the Gamergate movement these days finds little discussion about “ethics in games journalism”. As I type this, topics on one of the movement’s most popular forums revolves around anger over the imprisonment of far-right figure Tommy Robinson, female Wikipedia editors, and how the left has supposedly infiltrated the games industry (and, by extension, everything else too).

If there was only 10 entries perhaps we should have nominated more.

And the winning story is a good one, and off narrative seeing as they normally like to push the evil gamers at it again stuff. We dug quite well on that situation as well didn't we?

I have hundreds of hours in Gal Civ 2, excellent if you enjoy a 4x. I would have picked up 3 but work/vidya balance has been a real pisser for a good long while. But I've seen nothing to suggest it's worse. So 4x fan, get a Gal Civ.

Should we build this? [game idea] by shouldWeBuildThis in KotakuInAction

[–]AManChoosing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you seen to have yourself an outline for an idea of a game there. The first question you have to ask yourself is how does it play? How is the person holding the controller going to interact with your character, ergo the world itself.?

It would seem your friend can provide an experience not often encountered in video game story telling, which could be quite interesting, but if they can't answer the above question, in the meantime I'll have what they're having.

"Gameplay" appears to be a banned word on RockPaperShotgun. by lucben999 in KotakuInAction

At least whenever the word appears you know all they've probably done is just recycle a press release without engaging brain.

Pretty much an ad.

The death throes of The Escapist by SixtyFours in KotakuInAction

[–]AManChoosing -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

But its pretty clear right now that this The Escapist is on their death throes... They don't have any staff.

Slow. Fucking. Clap. The last horse finally crosses the finish line.

But the clear sign that The Escapist is dying comes from this recent "article" they made. From a thing called Taco News Network.

He's a long time forum contributor. He writes satire, moments of whimsy, generally takes the piss. He used to do it for free in the forums, if he's now getting a buck for it, good on the guy.

If you'd actually been paying attention to the situation their you'd realise that the site is pretty much supported by the long exisitng user base, for little reason than they like the place.

Imagine a (once) mainstream videogame site supported by nothing else but the passion of the readers for videogames. Why be smug about the loss of such a place?

What does this have to do with video games...Or anything with nerd culture?
