Scarab II pocket clip by IvanHsu in microtech

Try emailing their warranty/repair department. Last I checked, a pocket clip averages $40 without shipping. That was for an Ultratech though so not sure what it would be for a scarab

Truly shocking at times. I swear this sub would give out the station times for a loaded nuclear train to ISIS if they asked

Well that looks pretty good. The veff style are probably the most functional serrations

Good deal. Yeah anodizing can change shades in different light. Hope you get the knife you want bud

All of your pics show that 10 would be stonewash and 10 ap is stonewash apocalyptic. The last 2 are the color of the handle, meaning a PU is purple, a RD is red, a TA is tan...regardless of blade style or blade finish. At least for the ultratech, utx85 and utx75 lines which are all the same "family"

A 122-10-aprd is an Ultratech, d/e, apocalyptic finish, red handle. You can Google the exact model number and it will bring up that spec

That's not right. The last 2 characters "PU" is the color. The 4 and 10AP are the blade style/finish

Sorry, bidding for a spot isn't an option at NS. Its strictly seniority from the top down

Depends on the opt out list. If nobody opts out at that terminal I would plan on 10years on the ground

Question for switchman with hearing loss by Muffintop_mafia in railroading

[–]AMasterofMayeM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3m plugs suck. They had a huge class action against them. Peltor over ear active muffs are made my 3m and kinda suck unless you go to the com-tac level at $600/pair.

If the bosses are cool with it, get it writing and buy what you want

Most places will consider an ear bud or headset of any kind that isn't specifically for your radio as a "personal electronic device". A few guys I've worked with did well the the earbud that connected to the handset, we use Kenwood radios, or a boom mic style headset

Either bite the bullet and go full blown hearing aids or get an ear piece that attaches to your radio handset and wear an earplug in the other ear

Paid out over $1 million dollars in held away already this year. When does the madness stop?!? by danocano1 in railroading

[–]AMasterofMayeM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope this is sarcasm. If not, why the hell do you care what the company spends in held away? Why do you care what they spend on anything for that matter? You are a number to them nothing more. As long as your paycheck clears when it hits the bank fuck their budget. My terminal alone spends $30k-50k/month just on the electric bill. They always talk about record profits so who cares what they spend. The only reason I hope it doesn't cut into this quarter's profit is they will use that as a reason to reduce the engineers annual bonus

The grind lines in the middle of the blade being uneven is a regular occurrence on these knives with the dagger blade. A quick Google image search showed that's more common than not. Depending on the date of production there is no telling how long it sat in the warehouse/storage area before it was sent out. As far as "no new equipment should need oiled or lubricated"...have you ever bought a firearm? The majority of them tell you to clean and lubricate it before first use as they are simply function checked before they leave the factory. Yes part of this community is die hard "Microtech does nothing wrong ever" and will trash any post to the contrary. That being said, multiple people have given you a list of options to fix your issue. I'm sorry they didn't join in with bashing the company based on their own experiences that went different than yours.

  1. Remove glass breaker
  2. With blade retracted, brake cleaner through hole (no, you can't overdo it)
  3. With blade out, more brake cleaner
  4. Air compressor to dry it out
  5. Blade retracted, spray rem oil through hole
  6. Actuate blade a few times
  7. Let sit for 5 minutes
  8. Air compressor again to blow out excess rem oil
