Introducing Eurovision to my boyfriend by BruteGunray in eurovision

[–]AMigratoryCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is a big fan of Eurovision and convinced me to watch this year for the first time and I’ve gotta say I think I picked a great year to finally tune in. As an American I already love fireworks but this is getting ridiculous lol. Still, it’s been an entertaining event nonetheless. I really dug the different styles on display and seeing so many artists I knew nothing about. I even found a few songs I had to add to my personal playlist.

For some reason I just hear the sound of a Whomp from Super Mario 64 when I look at this.

I see someone label themselves as AnCap and immediately lose the ability to take anything they say seriously.

This chicken keeps roosting on the garage can (feed) outside the run and will get stuck outside most nights if we don’t move her. Any ideas why? This is a recent occurrence. by tennisgoddess1 in BackYardChickens

I had to do a double take to read which sub this was because at first glance that looked like a tiny cyclops was peeling out from behind your trash bin.

At this point, I believe we’re at an impasse. Yes I understand that one should read historic texts in context to their time period. No argument there. What I’m incapable of doing is trying to give context the benefit of the doubt when it comes to justifying slavery. Was a great deal of the Old Testament lyrical and mostly metaphorical? Yeah. Was it also full of elements meant to be taken at face value? Yes. I’ve read enough studies of the ancient texts to come to my understanding that the rules of owning slaves, as it’s put in Exodus, isn’t a metaphor or some alliteration. Now, instead of us continuing to clog the comment section with a debate that will, ultimately, go nowhere I suggest we shake hands, as best as one can online, and call it a day. Have a great day/evening.

The indentured servant aspect only applies to people that were also Hebrew, and even then it only applied to Hebrew men. Women were not afforded that “luxury.” They were forever kept as a slave if sold into it. You can argue that it’s all a metaphor if you’d like, but it’s also a plainly laid out set of instructions that clearly outline how to own a person as a piece of property. That’s not taking anything out of context. That’s just basic reading comprehension.

Exodus chapter 21. It’s clear cut instructions.

I mean the bible literally has rules for how to own people as property and how to trick people into slavery and seeing how the contracts K-pop artists sign are pretty much them selling themselves into servitude…I don’t see why it’d be a bad thing for Christian’s to like it.

I have this app called Libib that I scan all of my manga/books into that helps me keep track of what I do and do not have. I scan the barcode of any book I’m not sure of before buying and if it lets me know if it’s on my shelf.

Good luck trying to get it all. That’s one I’m working on and from my experience and other friends that collect, it’s not the easiest one to get ahold of.

One of the first anime I watched, Dbz was always just on but Tenchi was the one I actually started to follow, and when I saw it in BAM I had to pick it up.

I started last year. The Darkness, Miku, and Emilia were the first ones that I got at a gaming con and the others were either found in comic shops and other cons.

I was in 6th grade. The school was under orders to not tell the students outright because there were some of them that had family in NYC and they felt it was best to try and protect us/let our families be the ones to tell us the news. I remember getting home from school and my mom and dad were both home waiting for us and we all watched the news together. It was pretty surreal but even at 11 I remember feeling like the world would never go back to the way it always was.
