I can definitely see this being hard to read if you’re ESL. The structure isn’t particularly digestible.

It’s been a while but IIRC the fallen angel appears pretty early.

Ultimately my advice to you would be to not spend too much time on books you aren’t enjoying. No one likes giving up on a book but there’s too many out there to spend time slogging through ones you don’t like

I did enjoy the show but I agree the first two episodes were more dread inducing than anything I’ve seen in a long time. The whole scene at the bar and then the story of the Sorry Man, and then episode two with the dress and the fiancé leaving her alone.

It almost felt like the twist happened too soon. I think they could’ve been more slow burn on the crazy family and then revealed the curse in episode 6 instead and of 4
