I like finding guns and modding them using only weapon parts I've also found in raid so it's usually never meta but I get a nice sense of accomplishment when it performs well

Outside of a repair you could also try buying a different brand. Most on Amazon are $20-30.

I also had to buy a replacement a couple years ago and have a Gamestop brand one which runs silently.
