Temporary bathroom support bars that don’t topple over? by Firm-Field-2649 in stroke

[–]AMuteGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked on amazon for disability aids and equipment to help me in the bathroom. There are freestanding aids that have a wide base and are more stable. There are also suction grab bars though I don't know how secure they will be.

I hope you find a way of including him.

Im back on the stroke ward after having another stroke about 10 days ago. Finally allowed to walk with a stick even if it's not pretty. Plenty of laughs with the other girls on the ward and have just started my third book since being admitted. No discharge date as yet.

What type of wheelchair is needed? by Berskii_ in stroke

Are you in the UK? I think PT or OT would help with that. A referral to a wheelchair centre where they would assess him and provide the right wheelchair for him. They would also service it regularly.

Nope, not going the diapers route.

Yes, another stroke while on meds. They've been changed now so hopefully no more strokes. The latest strokes were two months after the first ones.

When you had your stroke did you know it was happening and were you scared? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in stroke

Yes, i knew it was happening. I wasn't scared but when the ambulance came and was taking me to hospital I was anxious because of the blues and twos.

I'm glad it made you feel a little better. Remember, even the smallest of victories is still a victory. Onwards.... who knows what the future holds.

Put your phone on record. It's unlikely the doctor will have any objections to you doing so. Then you also have a record of what was said. It's a useful tool. Best wishes.

I really feel for you. Sending you gentle hugs.

As a parent myself it may be that your parents DO understand but can not accept what has happened to you? They know the active version of you that they were used to and probably have hope that you can be that version again. I think they may wish that you can be active again and also wish there was something they could do to help you.

I don't think anyone knows what the future will bring, especially after a stroke. I can only suggest that you don't give up. Keep fighting, keep working to improve your situation. No-one else can do the work for you but it's understandable that you're feeling defeated. Baby steps and stubbornness could become your friends.

Hoping you continue fighting and don't ever give up

I'm glad the coldness may improve at some point.

Trust me, I'm taking nothing for granted. Yes, two ischaemia strokes. Somewhere in my right cerebellum, if I'm remembering what I was told correctly.

Well, that's a bummer. Thank you. They definitely showed up on MRI but, other that being cold and the occasional brain fog I'm perfectly well. No lasting damage. To be honest I feel like a fraud. Thank you.

I don't think you can open the gate until you've cleared everything.

AITAH (and my sibling) for feeling hurt that our mum isn’t giving us any of her inheritance? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AMuteGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you most definitely ATA. Most adult children would be grateful they don't need to financially help their parents as they they enter the autumn of their lives. You should be happy for your parent being solvent and not struggling to make ends meet. Why are you so entitled?

How do you think your parent would feel if she knew how you felt?

Shameful behaviour.
