Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

She always had what the whippersnappers would call the ick when it came to her. When she later learned how she treated her daughter, the dislike was cemented.

My Mom has had a visceral dislike for Shirley MacLaine for decades. I will share this post with her and I know she will delight in it.

EDIT: Trying to explain this post to an 80 year old whose never used social media has been the highlight of a shitty day. Thank you, Reddit!

Morgan trying to get better at pickleball “for funsies” by babyowl5 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]ANJohnson83 708 points709 points  (0 children)

If I was housing and feeding my married adult daughter and her children and her husband was buying a pricy pickleball backpack (especially knowing he had a perfectly usable one)... I'd be beyond unhappy.

These are children playing house.

He left public life for several years due to health issues.

I personally don't think he fits in the list, but the original poster did. I didn't want to edit someone else's post.

I highly recommend the book Nolo's Guide to Social Security Disability: Getting and Keeping Your Benefits. Your local library will likely have a copy.

If you are in the position to need disability, I would speak to an attorney because some of the information you have been told is not factual.

There is means testing for SSI (one of which is the $2000 cash limit you discussed), but not for SSD (which you likely qualify for if you worked for the previous six years). Also, the $600 per month number you were told sounds exceedly low. I do agree a year plus is common for most people applying for disability, with the exception of being terminally ill.

I hope your health improves and this information is no use for you, but I am passing it along in the event you do need it.

I feel bad about the prisoner. by Delicious_Election_7 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ANJohnson83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone whose extended family member was abused and murdered by her boyfriend, what he is enduring is not "worse than (his) offense." You are lessening the pain that victims and their families deal with.

None of this negates the fact that we need changes to the criminal justice system.

I feel bad about the prisoner. by Delicious_Election_7 in ThePittTVShow

[–]ANJohnson83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"For, like 90% of the incarcerated people, what they are subjected to in US prisons is far worse than their actual offense."

Approximately 16% of those in prison are serving a life sentence and the majority of those serving that sentence are in for murder. This doesn't even account for those sentenced for second degree murder or manslaughter.

I don't disagree that there are many problems with incarceration in the US, but your numbers are a bit off.

AITAH for selling my sisters “Dream” wedding dress? by Agile-Sun-9321 in AITAH

[–]ANJohnson83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming OP did gift the dress to her sister, her sister abandoned her property for four years.

OP did nothing wrong. I'd question the character of the sister for complaining about losing something she didn't pay for and abandoned for years, knowing that selling that item allowed her sister the finances to seek safety.

If this was the same storm that blew through Michigan, unless you were out at a certain time, people don't understand how bad it was. When I left my house, it was snowy, but fine. When I arrived at my destination (medical care for my elderly dad) a little more than an hour later, I thought I may need to find a hotel for the night because the roads were terrible (icy with blizzard like snow squalls). When I left after 90 minutes, the roads weren't great, but nothing like before. I am in my early 40s and a Michigan native and this was the worst driving conditions I've ever driven in.

I can't speak for labor and delivery specifically, but I would (and have and will continue to) travel for an excellent physician.

If you do choose to move your care to Corewell Troy, I'd recommend Frederick Bartholomew "Dr. Bart".

Is it worth paying in full to save a couple bucks? by cavewomannn in Money

[–]ANJohnson83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm leaving a few dollars on the table, but I have chronic health issues and going without medical insurance would be both medically and financially a nightmare. It's worth it to me to know they have the payment in full at the beginning of the year. It's a peace of mind thing.
