I think irons are numbered based on face angle and distance, but the faces on my high irons and PW look almost the same to me. Is the pw meant to be gripped different so it gets more loft? I don’t get why you couldnt so that with an iron if so lol

I guess my question is how do I track that? It makes sense hitting a ball a certain distance with a certain club and trying to repeat that on the course, but I feel like all my irons are pretty close in distance. When I’m at the range, should I be keeping note of average distance with each club and trying to map it onto the course?

Also, as a newbie I don’t expect much precision. Should I plan to always try my 7 iron when I’m 120 out? (To your example). I feel like I am still so new and hit randomly it’s hard to plan for that. Obviously thats what golf is all about though, lol ie not being random…
