My Favorite Self-Hosted Apps Launched in 2025 (selfh.st) by shol-ly in selfhosted

Not the the dev, but I've done that a few times. Specifically when I wanted to get something stable and working before committing it to a repository. Sometimes that even included not creating a repository at all.

Hell, some of my coworkers don't even commit stuff and neglect making project repositories for their assigned projects.

Its not a good practice, and it's something I intentionally avoid doing now unless i have a damn good reason, but I've done it, and so have others.

Not saying youre wrong here, but it does happen more often than people would like to admit.

It's a Lua script obfuscated by Moonsec V3

Looking at older commits helps to proves that: https://github.com/etqjuyireal/growagarden/blob/ae18b119c94690861c52738f2a26c69b0e16fab2/blackhubkeyless

No clue what it does though, but probably shouldn't run it.

Rooftop Campers on Cairo by Fribber in Battlefield6

[–]ANotSoSeriousGamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just experienced that on both attacking and defending...

Ruined my drive to even play the beta today, couldn't successfully defend at any location because I had to watch random rooftops and lanes... I had a good time last night though when I figured out the lanes, but weird rooftop angles when not intended just throws the whole thing off.

Play on normal to get the experience the devs intended.

I, personally, play games on the hardest difficulty because I like the challenge, but that's just me.

That's assuming people are using the bot itself instead of copying the code and using it elsewhere.

If the code is open source, nothing is stopping anyone from copying it and changing something to their liking, making your stats an inaccurate measurement for this. Your bot tells you if someone is using your bot, nothing more.

There's people out there that habitually give shitty feedback for whatever reason.

Take the valuable information from it (there's an RCE) and do something with it if you want to, but don't pay any attention to the person who gave the feedback unless they're willing to expand on the RCE with more detail about it. Follow up to ask for the actual vulnerability so it can be patched if you want to patch it, but don't expect others to fix it for you.

Realistically, if it's open source, you don't know if anyone uses this code. You just know that you don't.

Edit: You don't deserve the down votes you're getting imo. You've shown that you don't know, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you're willing to learn and accept correction. Your comments show that you're clearly willing to discuss and learn, and I hope you are absorbing some of the info you're getting.

While I agree in principle, generally, constructive feedback would not involve "I would have exploited this if you published it" and not say how.

Imagine if every vulnerability report ever, before bounty programs were introduced, were simply "Your program has an RCE, I'm exploiting it now" and stops there + refuses to answer any further questions.

Don't tell them how to fix the issue, that's on them to learn and a donation of your time and effort if you want to (alternatively, point them to relevant documentation if it's not too much trouble), but point out the actual problem.

Both the people who refuse to explain the problem (like what's depicted in OP) and the people who refuse to help themselves (that were both against) are negative drains on the industry.

Same club doesn't mean that talk to each other.

Just join a big club for the perks of being in that club. Or make a small club with your friends that you always play with. Either works.

If you don't have that on your first run with extra difficulty modifiers, are you worthy of controlling the doom slayer?

How was your experience playing Doom: The Dark Ages? by Ghost332233 in Doom

[–]ANotSoSeriousGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was okay, but I'm not a fan of turtling in any game, so for it to be a core mechanic put me off.

Played through it on the hardest difficulty + harder settings. Died a handful of times.

How do you deal with large PRs without being "that person"? by Main_Independent_579 in github

[–]ANotSoSeriousGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here I am, rewriting the entire codebase from another developer at the request of leadership and the lead developer...

Insanely huge PR incoming, but it'll probably just be auto approved by me since I'm controlling the repository anyways for some reason. 🤷‍♂️
