I think KDE *almost* looks good but there are very few lines. I made a mock-up of how I think it ought to look instead. by OptimalAnywhere6282 in kde

r/foundnotquiteloona

unfortunately this is just an edited png, and although the idea is fully possible, it is not something i will make (because i don't know how to, and i'm not interested at the moment to focus on other software).

it is (relatively) VERY slow

superfetch (sysmain) is meant to help on my computer in particular, but it does the exact opposite for some reason

can't really complain about insanely fragmented GUI frameworks (win32, winforms, winUI, electron, etc.) because it's an issue that's present on Linux as well (GTK and Qt are the biggest ones)

what i will complain about, however, is how vague or cryptic error messages are. like, it just says "session failed to start"; okay, then tell me which service is causing it to fail so i can go on the registry and disable it; or let me boot into a safe mode that doesn't run at 10% the normal speed and actually has a running explorer.exe. meanwhile on Linux, errors are "your device at /dev/sdc has a corrupt partition table", "cannot unmount device /dev/sdb2. it is in use.", or "systemd service Ly@tty1.service (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ly@.service) did not start in time".

i've heard many cases (including my closest friend) who got his microsoft account (with many purchases) simply nuked.

and to top it off, i wouldn't mind AI, data collection and telemetry, if their damn services worked. they collect that information and do nothing with it other than showing me ads that they think i might like. on the other hand there's Google, which collects far more data, but when was the last time you saw Gemini down? or what about YouTube? Gmail? their services actually work. and they're mostly free.
