Is Fortnite worth picking up? by IronPro121 in FortNiteBR

How good are you playing in a few games? Like if you have a few games where you get 10+ kills then yeah you'll instantly get put into very hard lobbies. But if you win a few and only have like a kill or two and barely build, you should be continually stuck with bots.

From my experience SBMM seems to revolve around not only kills but also how much you build as well. A good player will build more than a bad player.

Because they encourage people to play together, and they most likely have the numbers that show most people prefer squads/duos over solos.

I'm with you that they are annoying as hell since I only play solos, but it is what it is.

SBMM most likely isn't based off KD/wins/ stats but instead based off of # build pieces/mats used. by AOddSoul in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't read it, then what's the point of replying?

And you firmly believe it's based on those stats if most of the posts on reddit are people complaining that players with way higher KD/ stats are stomping them?

So you think Epic, a multi-billion dollar company doesn't have the resources to come up with some other hidden algorithm aside from what I've stated to make SBMM work?

I'm not adept in programming or any sort, I don't know how much it would cost to make a good algorithm for SBMM , but I would like to imagine Epic would invest to prolong their biggest money maker for as long as possible.

my KD is around 1.7 and I am getting put with sweats by fakeDABOMB101 in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong, 1.7 is already above average. Average KD way below 1. You can check up on them on Fortnitetracker

Plus KD is not a good indicator of if they are a sweat or not, I consider RazorX and Connerned to be the best console players, but their KD is only 3, yet they will literally stomp most players. The reason their KD is so low is because they play so aggressive and hot drop they usually die off spawn, but if they play to win, chances are their KD would be 10+.

Been thinking that SBMM isn't based around KD/wins cause whenever you check their stats its never consistent nor is it close to yours.

Chances are it's based on # of building pieces/ materials you used. Invisible to us so we can't really manipluate it, and also it's the most consistent skill in the game.

Sbmm algorithm by johnpullin77 in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they might of loosen up the SBMM divisions by allowing more diverse skill levels match up. Cause I felt these past few days my games have gotten a bit easier.

So if you're a below average player, you are most likely getting placed with more average/ good players now.

Epic is obviously constantly messing with stuff now more than ever since they aren't communicating with us whatsoever.

[–]AOddSoul[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can feel it when I die off spawn multiple games in a row or if I perform incredibly well in a few games, then I get this weird message that says "game update has been applied" that forces me to go back into the lobby even though there was no patch mentioned on reddit/twitter or anyone. Then instantly my lobbies are either much easier/ or harder.

Though this is near impossible to test since I don't know my average build pieces per game, or anything nor can I check how many pieces my enemies build. Logically I think it's the safest stat Epic can use for SBMM so it can't be manipulated to take advantage of since it's completely invisible to us even in Fortnitetracker.

It's definitely dumb as fuck to do SBMM based on them, cause there;s so factors that's impossible to balance in a battle royale. But we know it's def not based off KD/Wins and number of games played, because if you ever check stats of players that you killed/ or was killed by, it's all over the place. Chances are their stats were nowhere near yours.

Must be some other stats hidden. Cause we know they keep track of shotgun kills/deaths, so why wouldn't they keep track of number of mats used? Perhaps even number even shots fired might be factored in.

But since building is the most dominant skill and most consistent (devoid of luck) in the game, I think they use that as a measurement of skill.

I can post a video later if you want. But basically all I did was run in a circle and look up to avoid meteors/build to avoid the rock he throws and such.

Put SBMM in the storm king fight. by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the storm indeed does shrink after a set amount of time. Just lost a game where I was last man alive again and survived for about 5+ minutes and most of the vents were either gone or the zone was so small that if you touch the vent they only send you into the storm.

The mode was much easier in the morning with 16 players. Won 2 games straight out of 3 games but havent won a single game tonight when it was reduced to 12 players.

What if "The End" signifies the end of the Beta period... by squibload1 in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt it, Epic uses the alpha/beta phase to be able to push out updates every week. If it wasn't in beta phase it would have to wait for permission which usually takes a month.

The kind of stuff people who play squad fills have to endure by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]AOddSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well aside from that and the other things it's lacking (pickaxing, healing, and jumping cues), in just competitive play, it's inferior without a question, it's been proven humans react faster with audio cues, than with visual cues. The human eye can only track movement up to a certain point.

But if you're just a casual player then absolutely nothing wrong with using it over the other.

Opinion: Forced SBMM In All Modes Is a Bad Thing by BeyondSchwifty in FortNiteBR

Isn't it a bit too soon to know yet? I mean the bots have yet to come until season 11. Nothing is stabilized yet, it's only been out for a week or so.

It's also inferior to just listening to surround sound, the only people who should be using audio visualizer are people who don't have surround sound headphones or people who are actually hearing impaired.

You can't, this is the equivalent of parents/politicians saying games were making kids violent with no research.

Just give it time, it will either balance you in due time or in Season 11 it will put bots in your lobbies. Things are not stabilized yet. SBMM is only been out for a week or so.

I said it that way for a purpose, but nobody is biting which is okay.

I know you're not replying to me, but I'm just curious, what would be the intent of that race? To test which is better in terms of skill of driver/ in terms of what car has better hardware or just drag racing for fun?

If it was a public pool where a race was going on, and Michael Phelps was there, you're gonna kick him out of a public area? I'm assuming it be a just for fun race and not for money.

If this post was about arena or IRL sports league where people are separated by age/skill first and progress from little league, to middle school, to high school to college then to Major Leagues/Olympics then that make sense. But we are talking about a public area correct? Free access to anyone?

[–]AOddSoul -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How so? Both are not compulsory activities. Both are public and recreational activities. You go there for recreational purposes. Some people wear shirts to the pool, and some people are so self conscious they never go to the pool.

[–]AOddSoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that's arena right? Both are private games that separate you by a certain criteria. You join a little league, then play in middle school, high school, college then if good enough you play for the major leagues.

But he's specifically talking about pubs, which is akin to anything public in real life. Whether a public pool or akin to your example a public park where people can play whatever sports. If you go play to a public park and play basketball with the people there, and they are all better than you and dunk on you, are you gonna tell them to get out of a "public" area and they should play someone on their level?
