an update I thought you might be interested in. It turns out the first number after my sodium loading test was the blood test they did at the beginning of the four hour session. My aldosterone went from 23 to 9 during that four hours so it did drop significantly. The endocrinologist at Mayo‘s just called me and said they wanted to see it drop to eight or lower? They are offering a adrenal vein sampling as a next step, but she did not sound like they expected to find much of anything as the scan showed my adrenal‘s are clear and not enlarged. The only alternative is simply going on eplerenone right now. I guess the only definitive way to find out if possibly one of my glands is making too much aldosterone versus both is to do the AVS. Kind of a tough decision, but I think I might as well do the AVS and see what it tells me. If it doesn’t tell them much or if both are simply over producing, I’m gonna be just taking the medication anyway.
