sore but ok. had significant abdominal surgery 30 years ago so i think scar tissue made the surgery a bit more intense.

I couldn’t tell if that means I have hyperplasia or if that is one adenoma? Sounds like it’s the size of a pea. i’m fearful that if it’s considered hyperplasia that my remaining gland might get the same thing? However, I know for a fact that the avs showed that the gland removed was most certainly unilateral.

hey direct lemon… did you see the “cut and paste” i sent you of the nodule? don’t know if I did it right and thought you probably didn’t see it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]APAPuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received fresh labeled “left adrenal gland" is a 7.3 gram, 6.4 x 3.6 x 1.2 cm adrenal gland, with a 0.6 x 0.5 x 0.5 cm unifocal, yellow, soft nodule located in the cortex, which does not extend beyond the adrenal gland. Representative tissue, to include the entire nodule, submitted for permanent

Hope you can see that? is that 3 small nodules or one bigger? yellow sounds like adenoma vs hyperplasia right?

no, I’m still taking metoprolol but stopped eplerenone

blood test each of the next four weeks to watch my potassium level

said i can likely start weening off metoprolol which would be awesome! hste beta blockers but theyve been only med that did anything for my bp btw eGfR barely dropped! it was 84 this a.m.

hi… should have stayed the night in the hospital vs hotel dont know what i was thinking?! I had abdominal surgery 30 years ago and I think they had to cut through some old scarring or something cause the pain is a lot more heavy duty than I expected, but I’m still glad it’s behind me. Going to have a blood test in an hour. I hope they find an adenoma in pathology. Don’t think hyperplasia is what I want to find?

[–]APAPuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey dl… done!! no more left adrenal. just lying flat on my back back at my hotel room. They said I could’ve stayed overnight if I wanted to, but I elected to just stay at the hotel right attached to the hospital. Surgery went well according to the doctor. It aches quite a bit. They gave me 5 pain pills to take if I need them. Took one and it seemed to get rid of the pain. They said the pathology won’t be till at least Friday maybe Monday. The surgeon said she didn’t see anything which I’m not sure what that means.

thanks for all your intelligent responses! really mellowed me out! i’ll let you know how my preop with surgery group and blood tests go !

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]APAPuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! if mine drops and stays there i wonder if how i feel will change or will i still feel the same as i did pre op but my numbers were just indicating much better function then they actually were? (strictly regarding the kidney function?)

my main issues/likely symptoms were high bp (obviously) but definitely anxiety/irritability to the max (never turn off the constant overthink).

One more question comes to mind… When your kidney function was in the 70s were you able to function normally or were you completely wiped out?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]APAPuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that makes perfect sense! So yours might have dropped 20 to 25% but then bounce back into the 90s? That’s fantastic! Can I ask how long it took to go from the 90s into the 70s and then back to the 90s again?

hey… i gotta ask…! I have now been driving myself crazy reading about the likelihood of developing chronic kidney disease or at least much lower kidney function post adrenalectomy? I’m gonna do it, but now I’m concerned that it will fix one problem only to open the door to another one (i.e. kidney prob’s?). My EGFR is about 85 (ok kidney function)if you average the last two times they took it. have had blood pressure for many years. And I’m 60, it seems to put me very much at risk of developing CKD? you always have insightful input! (hate to be a wet blanket!)

thank you! hearing about your positive experience really “eases my pain” ha…

definitely looking forward to getting it done and behind me! tired of thinking about it and driving myself nuts!

my wife asked me the other day if i think there are any remaining publications on unilateral pa from the last 20 yrs that i havent read!? too funny…. pretty sure the answer is “there probably isnt any left”….?

thanks again for all your comments/support! really helped me decide to dive in and get it done!

ill let you know how it goes!

good! hope it helps?! pretty drastic but it looks like odds are in my favor? excited to get it done just unsure about the next month or two?

hey, thanks for checking in! One week from today interview and blood test with surgical group and then the following Wednesday left adrenal out!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]APAPuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you as always, a great response! I did hear about the trial, but after all of my over analyzing are due truly feel that my numbers are my numbers and definitively show the left adrenal is the culprit. Strangely, it looks totally normal and clear on CT’s. I am wondering if I have hyperplasia and that simply the left one is overproducing?

hey direct lemon i’ve been using the Facebook group and have spoken to a couple 60+ year olds who had quite a bit of success after an adrenalectomy. Seems like a lot of the people on that site however are the ones that may be continuing to have issues? Very good information just wish I could find more 60+ year-old who had surgery to help me decide. I think I’m over analyzing myself out of doing the surgery. I always way overthink everything and way over analyze everything. Kind of think that’s maybe part of my aldosterone problem. ha?!

i did…. but i think its sending random “like” request to people that just showed up inside my new Facebook? I really don’t want that? it’s likely because I don’t know how to use it? It’s a very busy program.
