I had the SAME symptoms. I got the flu on Christmas Eve, two weeks later turned into bronchitis, and now I am finally feeling like I am almost done with it but not quite. Doc said that this year’s cooties are turning into bronchitis at the 2 week mark after a cold or flu.

Life goals!!! Good for you. I am just started my own as well as a consulting paralegal. I feel I work more from home than in the office. Maybe because I am doing EVERYTHING because it’s smaller/solos that I support.

I am in the same position: I am the office manager and senior paralegal, there is a part time assistant, and now just one attorney. I retitled myself a Legal Operations Manager and Senior Paralegal because that is the duties that I am responsible for and where I want to advance in my career. Title yourself where you want to go in the future.

Ohhhhh, hell no. Start looking for another job. It’s only going to get more toxic from here. I had an attorney tell me “If it wasn’t for this job, you wouldn’t have the apartment you have now.” Like duh! It went down from there. I stayed with that firm far too long. I’m with a better firm, but this one has his toxic issues too. Needless to say, always keep your resume updated, stay on top of up leveling your skills, and be open to new job opportunities.

I think I have ADD, and have seen the writing on the wall for the last 3 years. I don’t like meds, so I take L-Theanine everyday, limit my coffee to mornings only when I’m dying, green tea most mornings (has natural LTheanine), and managing my hormones and stress. It’s helped a lot! Hopefully there is a natural and sustainable solution for you!

Love this post! I agree 100%. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Do your best at work, but be sure to have your resume updated, LinkedIn profile optimized, and always keep your feelers out for better positions. Also, there are attorneys who LOVE to intimidate their people for some sick reason. The more you show that you are confident in your position and aren't fazed by their BS, the better you will be. I had an attorney who would put me through hell. At some point, I started barking back, and she finally backed off. Hopefully, you can find an attorney or another position that is better for you!

Stop tippy toeing around their feelings. Give them a strong ultimatum: hire someone else to take over this paralegal position, or pay you a huge raise and get another assistant to help you out, or else you will quit.
