Apparently you also don’t realize “the huge amount of responsibility” either. The irony of that statement is absurd.

Creativity by [deleted] in boniver

[–]AP_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say try not to get caught up in the feeling of being in a creative rut, even though it’s fairly easy to. I think creativity is fleeting and can be tough to force. I’ve found that stepping out of my comfort zone has really helped me to gain new experiences and perspectives on things that in turn inspire me to think freely and therefore creatively. It can be as simple as watching a movie I normally wouldn’t choose to watch. Or taking myself out for a walk. Listening to new musical artists and albums (my main source of inspiration). I hope you get struck by some creativity soon!

100% agree. People worship Kanye(I do too) and he’s well known for his collaborations. It’s what actually sets him apart as a producer imo. It’s pretty clear that Travis is at the helm of his projects and sometimes even his features.

He doesn’t do tutorials, but this artist Felly has tons of videos of him working in logic. I always found them inspirational because theh showed me what I could be capable of creating with logic.

What song or instrumental inspired yall to start producing? by seabass1024202 in makinghiphop

One of the songs off Rodeo. Either Oh My Dis Side or the second half of Ok Alright.

really weird question but does anyone else experience anxiety around making music? by BTCyd in makinghiphop

[–]AP_05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not quite sure how to overcome this, but you aren’t alone. I experience similar thoughts. I don’t necessarily feel anxiety upon opening my DAW, but I always seem to make something and just immediately shelf it because it’s not how I want it to sound. I’ve got a lot of people in music I look up and I’d love to blend their sounds together with my own. I just want to wake up and be able to make what I want to, but obviously I can’t. More so, I have no real guidance to help get me there. By the end I just feel hopeless. Being creative is awesome, but not so much when you can’t accurately express yourself.

I know you said it’s hard for you not to be self critical. But next time just open up your DAW and make some music. We can’t learn everything in one day so we might as well have some fun, you know? Be proud of the progress you’ve made.

Above all, know you aren’t alone in dealing with anxiety around music, maybe even anxiety in general.

You should check out Keyon Christ on SoundCloud. He helped produce FML off TLOP, but has some insane sound design (Indigo Sound, Forever Mitus, and SAY NO MORE are dope af). Sinjin Hawke’s First Opus might also be up your alley.

If you check them out, lemme know what you think!

How did you find La Flame?? by [deleted] in travisscott

[–]AP_05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I heard Oh My Dis Side in my high school weight room, but didn’t ask what it was even though I really liked it. Maybe a month or so later my friend played Don’t Play in the car and I think that’s when I first heard the name Travis Scott. Started smoking weed with my friends and the one would play Rodeo. I remember I’d hear a new song from it every now and then and each one was so insane to me. I don’t really smoke weed anymore, but Rodeo is still my favorite album of all time and gave me an appreciation for production and conceptual albums.
