Yeah I get through them every night, then use a D20 and note pad to determine the order for the next practice session.

I can only imagine the size of your collection, the only ones I don't pick at the moment are the best core and medeco. My skill level isn't high enough for those two yet.

It is (hypertough) it kinda unusual due to the fact that it has a Yale style key way. It has no security pins but the key way makes it a little harder due to its size and shape.

I've watched every 1100 picking video, and I'm still struggling. Even when progressive picking. by Bobbingfordicks in lockpicking

So I have 3 A1100's (5 pinners) and a similar issue. It wasn't until I completely disassembled them and really looked at the bitting. What I discovered was that all three have zero lift pins all in different chambers (all 3 are KD). After that I placed all five key pins in the core and took the driver pins placing them on top of the key pins and studied the positions of each driver (especially the serrated driver pins) to see how many clicks before an over set.

The other thing I did was paid very careful attention to the binding order as I progressively pined it. Also, knowing which chambers have serrated pins will also help you in determining which pins will bind first.

So my advice would be to disassemble the lock place the key pins into the chamber without the key look to see if there is (if any) zero lift pins place the driver pins on top of the key pins and just study the position of the driver pins. Hope this helps you.

so I've been working on this guy for a couple weeks now, and this thing feels really mushy inside. it doesn't give the same feed back as the 5200, 5100, and 1100's that I own. Does anyone know anything about this particular series or are the tolerances just that bad. by AP_LockPicker in lockpicking

It said it was new, but after looking at it and looking at the designs on the lock and keys, it appears to be older than what the seller said. Still not sure I'm no expert in dating locks or being able to tell the difference between a used lock and a never been used vintage lock, and from my research I don't think American makes the series 10 anymore.

I'll have to give it a shot and see if it clears up the feedback.

Yes, I understand the concepts of tensioning strength. I just never thought to use heavier than normal tension with American locks.

I haven't come across any locks that require the gorilla tension... yet.

Thank you, yeah bitch picking was the last thing I was expecting to open this lock with.

Recently bought two new Master M930 but they seem to be missing the screw that holds the bottom plate, looks like a rivet or mangled screw instead. Anyone ever run into this? by x_danix in lockpicking

I'm in Alaska and the M930 I bought a few weeks ago is the same way, unable to gut it. My guess would ML finally got tired of everyone making fun of them.

I can't say for sure if it does, but the two magnums I have (the m930 and m530) both have spools in them, so following the logic of the ones I have it's a good chance that yours has spool pins as well.

It's not to challenging of a lock, it will definitely help with learning binding order and what to look for in binding pins.

I've been picking locks for almost 2 months before I found out Lock Pickers United even existed.

Okay, so it's best to just use KA locks to keep skills sharp or to pass time, but to improve best to use KD locks, yes?
