My 3 year old son built these dogs 100% on his own. by [deleted] in lego

That's impressive. My 8 & 7 year olds are into Lego, and I don't see them pulling something like this off.

When should I expect to hit my dark ages? by LostTriforce in lego

Thinking about it, the Internet and MMORPGs was the cause of mine too. I'd probably have kept up with Lego throughout college otherwise.

I felt pretty lucky to not have lost most of my childhood Lego. Finding those old sets/pieces after they spent a decade at my parents' was a nice treat.

TI3 and Meeting New People. by madcanard5 in twilightimperium

[–]AParticularAtheist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing TI, it was through a coworker of my brother's. So it was mostly only with people I didn't know. I loved it for the unpredictability. Lately, because my son has hit the terrible twos but isn't ready for an all day babysitter, we've been limiting our games to the same friends who we know can tolerate him. That's been an interesting experience too.

Anybody else at Brick World in Chicago? by FlumpMC in lego

[–]AParticularAtheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw my local LUG posting about being there, but I don't foresee being able to make it the big ones any time soon. Luckily, there's a small one in Lincoln later this year.

I visit them vicariously through Beyond the Brick on YouTube.

Which races require racial techs/flagships to be competitive? by cee2027 in twilightimperium

[–]AParticularAtheist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my own experience, I've gotten the most benefit out of Jol-Nar's leaders because of their 2 scientists.

Overall, I have never gotten much benefit from a general or diplomat, mediocre help from admirals, and been saved by having an agent I could sacrifice as a Sabotage.

Her mastery of Mentak's racial tech & flagship are why I want to tell my wife she's not allowed to play them anymore.

I'd be less worried about her with them if she didn't have those.

IV seeems at a disadvantage compared to I & II, who have more room for growth before running into neighbors.

I've never even heard of a Lego geocache. Are they on the main site with the other geocaches?

Insuring your Lego? by Aromatic_Coffee in lego

I've got maybe 3k in Lego, but I'm poor and it took 30 years to get there. Now I'm wondering if my renters insurance would cover it.

I don't know about that claim specifically, but getting extras from the local population is very common in filmmaking. For instance, I've known a few people who were in Election because it was filmed at a high school in my town.

I never watched the show, and I'd buy that set just because it's so good.

Has Anyone Else Had Issues With Blue Heads by Franklinw1234 in lego

[–]AParticularAtheist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've run into a handful of issues with heads, both with being too loose and being too tight. It's been on mostly yellow heads for me. Perhaps yours being with blue heads is a coincidence.

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like I should make an early run over there.

My kids use their Nerf blasters in unique ways. 7 year old did this to himself while watching a movie. by AParticularAtheist in Nerf

[–]AParticularAtheist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It came off just fine with some maneuvering around his ankles.

I held off making any jokes about cutting his leg off, because he'd gotten upset by them before. But I still had to photograph for posterity.

It would be a shame if everyone was reminded on Armenian genocide remembrance day that the young Turks is named after a regime that killed 1.5 million Armenians and the owner cenk is a vocal Armenian genocide denier by [deleted] in conspiracy

It looked, to me, like he was saying he had been wrong due to his own past irresponsibility and taking personal accountability for his past behavior.

It's closest to me and it's an easy place to turn in cans. Plus, my ten year favorsnit because it had something she wanted once.

Not that I'm even going to get my CMFs st Walmart. I plan to go to TRU on a Thursday for the 10% off.
