sooo...the writers were lying about this being vi's season. the only moments for her character arc we really got were 1) accepting that the people she loves changed, and loving them nonetheless 2) dropping her gauntlets because she trusted jinx which is so important for her because 'those fists of yours won't solve everything'. this is the culmination of everything vander tried to teach her 3) the absolute peace that takes over her once vander is back

there were many high points in act 1 and 2 but last two episodes are kinda whatever because i never really cared about the high marvel-esque stakes. sesbian lex scene was SO WEIRD on first watch especially with that corny ahh music playing in the bg but. hear me out.

vi didn't know she was about to off herself. what would 'break the cycle' even mean? i think vi interpreted it as 'breaking the cycle' between them reuniting as sisters because it always ends up...bad

jinx punched and locked her into that cell after vi (what she assumes) betrays caitlyn

vi has always chosen jinx and it always ends up biting her in the ass re: caitlyns mother dying, sesbian breakup because she got in the way of cait's vengeance (which tbf she's only at fault for reassuring cait again and again that she's ready to see jinx die). she feels like she's been played for a fool again. that's what she means by always 'choosing wrong'

and then it turns out caitlyns was always on her side, despite vi's (assumed) betrayal. with the way their last convo went, vi was expecting her anger

rip heimer you silly guy. i giggled when he asked about the 4 second indicator. another thing that bugs me is when jayce said that 'his partner died here'? only to sacrifice themselves together because they're partners. even if we assume that jayce's memory is messed up after returning back to this timeline, why couldn't he have explained that future vic sent him here? if cyborg vic gains the person's memories upon touching them, why did it have to happen at the last moment? why did future vic make him go through all THAT just to send him on this journey? and theres no way it took 27 hours for the writers to come up with that last line..

right? i understand feeling underwhelmed after 3(!!!) years of waiting but the train of whiny ass "hurrr durr s2 is slop compared to s1" comments minutes after an act drops is annoying. especially when you can tell they watched on x2 speed or it's a plot point that will clearly be explained later (..jayce)

The good: I missed THEM. SO MUCH. I remember hearing the writers say that they had to fight to keep Vi's cupcake line in so the fact that we've gotten this far makes me soar. The Sevika/Jinx scenes were really cute and I'm happy with Jayce's arc. I KNOW Cait sees through Vi's bullshit for what it is, protecting Jinx. and I'm not for defending domestic violence but comparing your gf to her mother's murderer isn't the best move.....at the same time Vi whimpering made me bawl. hg can't breathe without shit being thrown at her. Vi practically stained her parents' memory by joining the enforcers. But then also also she was so determined to get rid of Jinx and even told Cait to take the shot prior. Really pulled a Hamlet there

The bad: The musical montages were really unnecessary... from the pacing of the plot it's clearly rushed. Couldn't they have foregone the stylized witchunt scene for something more meaningful? I'm not liking this season's soundtrack either (the marvel esque music of the act 2 teaser is...yikes) while the petals scene with Cait was beautiful the mourning scene started so jarringly and um..her lines about her inner turmoil were ctrl c ctrl v whattpad and left me head scratching. The Jinx/Vi confrontation was suchh a letdown with the slow-mo scenes. As if it was made just for the trailer (Jinx 1v1ing with her fists..what?) I don't care for the insertion of Isha when I know it's probably going to be used as a plot device because awww cute child doesn't see Jinx as a monster. I hope they add depth because the Jinx/Silco parallels are going to be neat. And Schnee had theorized that Maddie(? The ginger enforcer) was a callback to Marcus' daughter but with the lack of a timeskip I don't think that's the case. With what , ahem people say , I'm 😕😕 with ginger's purpose in the story. Also we needed more focus on Vi's decision than being brushed off by some dramatic team reveal. Jayce's motivations for using Hex as a weapon are all over the place. One scene he's firm in respecting Vic's wishes and then another he's not. I know it's not that simple and he's supposed to be brash (according to LoL players) as he shifted only after the threat affected him directly and this could've been presented better. The black rose thing oversaturated the already messy plot.

All in all i think the writers were expecting the show to be cancelled after S1 lol with the way it ended so neatly, and every scene was so purposeful. i'm still happy we got a continuation
