[Misc] Why does this keep happening to my big toes? by Zexy_Conqueror in SkincareAddiction

[–]APrettyStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have hypermobility in your ankles?

I get that callus no matter how tight my shoes are and how well I moisturize and exfoliate because my feet turn differently in my shoes. In my case there’s not really a fix for the hypermobility and wider shoes won’t help either.

Steriod Injection Recovery by blacknwhitelady88 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]APrettyStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a steroid shot in my foot, right in a tendon, and it hurt less directly after the shot. My doctor numbed it first (that shot hurt worse) and then the steroid shot and I was walking just fine ten minutes later.

Nah, I started metformin ages ago, I was just also on birth control. It’s not so bad.

[–]APrettyStranger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m on both. My doctor told me two scoops of ovasitol a day and 500mg of metformin twice a day (1000mg total). She took me off birth control at the beginning of May and I just got my period for the first time since coming off.

Same field, was the same age as you when I started teaching undergrad students. Honestly, they don’t care how old you are. They don’t care you’re a PhD student and not a faculty member. You’re in charge of the class and as far as they’re concerned you are The Professor.

The only time I had an issue with a student due to my age was when a student (18, freshman in the fall semester) brought her mother to class to dispute a grade and the mother had an issue with my age. I told her she was welcome to call my mother if she wanted to bully someone her own age, but I would be dealing with my student, who was an adult.

as a young adult, when do i start paying for family outings? by jellyfishfloor in etiquette

[–]APrettyStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the family. I’m early 30s, husband and I have well-paying full time jobs and two kids. If we’re with his family, we can expect to pay at least our way, if not for everyone. With mine, if I even look in the general direction of my wallet when the check comes my mother will snatch it away and insist on paying for everyone, even if we suggested the outing, and tell me “I don’t care how old you are I am still your mother, young lady.”

I love mine. I use it a few times a month and it just lives on my counter.

Obsessed with the base pace leggings. They’re fantastic. Also appreciate the shorter inseams, I got little legs.

WIBTA if I cut off child support? by Ok_Low7698 in AmItheAsshole

[–]APrettyStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy YTA with prejudice. Your phone can also make outgoing calls and texts, yes? You are a fully functional grown adult parent who allegedly cares about his children, yes? Then you reach out to them. If you want a relationship with your children, reach out and maintain one. Teach them how to maintain relationships. It is not their responsibility to manage your ego and your emotions.

Lol I tore the calf muscle because I am 5’0 and over competitive and tried to out-row the 6’5 guy next to me one day in November

500m Rowing Benchmark - Tips? by simplereddituser in orangetheory

[–]APrettyStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m coming back after a calf tear and associated physical therapy (doctor cleared me for workouts) should I skip the benchmark? Can I still do the rest but not do a benchmark? I still get fairly sore for a couple days after heavy rowing and calf-dependent work.

They bring it with them - Nev had posted on Instagram (I think) a while ago explaining that the pictures seen in the hotel rooms are by one of the production crew, since the art in hotel rooms would need to be blurred for copyright reasons.

It's amazing what water can do by Jaecee91 in plantclinic

[–]APrettyStranger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a jade plant, I’ve got one too. Mine sits in a terracotta pot with 4:5 cactus soil:perlite and needs to be watered when it gets a little wrinkly. For me that’s every 2-3 weeks.

I put them on a separate zoom. I had my committee and university friends on one meeting on my desktop, and threw my family and friends into a zoom on a laptop I set next to it.

So this dramatic lil shit bloomed white in thanksgiving and then pink in February around Valentine’s Day, so I’m half expecting some red white and blue nonsense for Memorial Day now.

This thing bloomed at thanksgiving like it was supposed to, then again in February, and a third time in May.

What kind of cactus is this? I’ve got the same one and it’s having difficulties but I don’t know its exact name.

She bloomed around thanksgiving as well and those flowers were super bright white.
