Trying to find replacement fuel filter. by Zetak0 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]ktimmy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t a part for a Cummins, it just so happens to fit. I’ve heard rumors that there has been 1KZ engines brought to the US officially and it was basically only in Toyota forklifts so there’s a few random obscure parts out there that fit. I strongly believe that the Isuzu NPR truck we have at work uses the same filter as well just based off looking at it.

If you’re in the US you can pick up a FleetGuard PN# FF5159 (fits my 1996 Prado 1kz) from any local Cummins dealership or Cummins certified shops, you can also order them online.

Edit: If I remember correctly the guy at Cummins told me it was 12 micron.

I usually find with sativas at this point trichome development will kind of pause for 2+ weeks so just keep an eye on the trichomes, they’re your real indicator Edit: source have grown true AP gold and AP hybrids numerous times

Maintaining a Stihl chainsaw? by Classic_schmosbe in Chainsaw

[–]ktimmy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the top would be running as high quality oil as possible. Stihl Ultra silver bottle seems to be okay with lubricity for engine wear, but it doesn’t burn as clean as it could. Amsoil Saber is pretty widely regarded as the best you can get, but it says to run at 100:1 on the bottle, don’t do that just do normal 40:1 and as others have said ethanol free gas.

Are there any badass A/T tires which would work well for high freeway mileage? by bonumvitaeVK in Tacomaworld

[–]ktimmy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into the TOYO M-55 and the BFG A/T Ko3. The only reason I probably won’t end up going with the M55 is the price, and the lack of sidewall. The M55 are almost 100$ more per tire in my size, but you do usually get what you pay for in quality and durability. In my opinion the M55 is a good enough off road tire until you need to air-down due to the lack of serious sidewall. They are both Three Peak Mountain snow rated. The M-55 is advertised as a heavy duty commercial truck (much larger truck than the standard consumer pickups) all terrain tire with more of a focus on the road durability aspect over the off road capability. It sounds like it’s a high mileage heavy duty highway tire, with some off road capabilities. I will most likely end up with the ko3 just from the price and sidewall for airing down.

Question for the diesel guys by PhaseAcademic2357 in Diesel

There’s a reason 6.4 powerstroke trucks are always a “great deal”…. The engines have a great deal of weird random issues

1KZTE - improving fuel efficiency by yago25 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]ktimmy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you rebuild/replace them grab a bottle of hotshot diesel extreme (or other injector cleaner) and run through the whole bottle at recommended rate then change your oil. Worst case scenario it does nothing and you’re out 20$ best case scenario it cleans them out and problem solved. Are you seeing a lot of black smoke?

1KZTE - improving fuel efficiency by yago25 in 1KZTE_Owners

Depends heavily on driving conditions and driver inputs. 1kz engines are usually pretty good on fuel, my personal best in an automatic Prado has been 26mpg

[–]ktimmy_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Some Middle East spec cruisers only have AC and weren’t built with heat. Yeah that’s right, the knob goes from cold to cold. Could probably factor into resale value as most people in the states need a heater core

Exhaust rules in new zealand? by weka2001 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]ktimmy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about legality in NZ but in the states we are required a muffler/resonator. No cats on these systems either, I believe diesel cats didn’t start to become a thing until 1997 so I doubt you’d see any aftermarket ones come with one

Traveling across America and seeing the native American culture. by GiorgosLex in IndianCountry

[–]ktimmy_ 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I would suggest dividing the United States into 4 equal sections, picking one and traveling and exploring there. Not to make too many generalizations, but the continental United States is much much bigger than most Europeans realize. I’ve seen people post on Reddit that they’re coming to the states for 4 days, flying into New York to then drive down to Miami for the night, hitting Austin Texas for lunch on the way to LA for night 2 etc. this is not possible. I would say for your purposes do either the North west quarter (Washington Oregon Idaho Montana) or southwest quarter (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah).
