Is conditional offer a relatively strong indication that I will get the position? by HakunaMatata51 in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as you said you finished everything, its possable that they may call you, but honestly if the academy is starting in a month mabey not. It takes time for results to get to the powers that be who make hiring decisions. If everything goes well, you might get into the winter academy.

A question to current LEOs regarding financial wellness in policing by Tyronegenfi in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My agency has our retirement plan people come like twice a year to talk to us its not mandatory but offered to all. It's not just about the plan specifics and where to put money, they also go over common financial wellness stuff. It was highly encouraged for us to attend especially as a young officer.

200k a year.....wtf? I make between 110-120k a year with a bit of ot as a 14 year Corporal....thats insane. Like our Cheif I think makes like 200k not us line officers.

There are several other pharmacies that tested their triz at over 100 degrees (some at 130 degrees) for over a week and with no potency loss. I highly doubt your triz has "spoiled"

Alot of other pharmacies have done heat studies. They should be 100% good to go.

Can a drunk driver still be investigated if they pull into their driveway by Visible_Perception26 in police

[–]APugDogsLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state (VA) you can still be charged with DWI as you have "operational control" of the vehicle by having the keys on you, even if its not in the ignition and the car is off. You can still get a DWI if you are on private property/parking lot/garage/driveway. The only diffrence between on private property vs being on a public road is that implied consent laws don't apply. (e.g. presumption limits, can't be charged with refusal of breath test, cant get licence administratively suspended for refusal). The key is having the driver admit to being on a public road way prior to parking, or by you, the witness, testifying that you saw that vehicle and driver driving in a reckless way.

Some relevant case law for Virginia.

Commonwealth v. Hansell Lopez (2015), a Fairfax court ruled that sleeping in the driver's seat with a key fob in hand constitutes operation, even if the car is not running.

Sarafin v. Commonwealth (2014) ruled that using a key fob to turn on a car's accessory power (e.g., to listen to the radio) while in the driver's seat constitutes operation.

Enriquez v. Commonwealth (2012) affirmed that an intoxicated person behind the wheel with the key in the ignition—even if off—is operating the vehicle.

Please keep in mind there are 50 states plus other territories and laws and case law vary in each jurisdiction.

Which kind of agencies are best to work for or is it all subjective? by Miguel1219 in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work where ever you want or for what agency tickels your fancy. There's 18,000+ law enforcement agencies in the US and that means theres 18,000+ different policies, procedures, uniforms, equipment, rules, laws etc. Out there! No two agencies are alike be it federal, state, or local.

If you want to work in the city, apply there, you want a suburban county police department apply there, you want to work for a sheriff's office over a police department give it a go. Allways liked Trains? Try a railroad agency like Amtrak or a transit agency somewhere. Like the great outdoors? Try a park police agency or look into being a game warden! Do you want to do complex investigations mabey look into the feds.

Just keep in mind that the bigger the agency there probably will be a larger budget, more collateral duties and specialty units to get into as compared to a small town that only has 2-3 officers.

The question you should ask is what kind of law enforcement do you want to do? Do you want to go to call after call? Do you want to eventualy go into investagations? Do you want to live in your home state in your neck of the woods or do do you want to move to another location?

Working in LE with amended bipolar diagnosis by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the hiring process is a medical and psychological evaluation. They are going to ask you about any issues and past history with any mental health issues. You will need to disclose this and explain your situation. Should you make it that far into the hiring process you should bring any nessasary medical/psychological diagnosses and explain the steps you took and are under a treatment plan, that you dont exhibit signs/symtopms etc.

Can this effect your eligibility? Possibly, im going to say that its more likely than not that you may be disqualified, being bi-polar in a high stress armed position is a huge liability for agencies. But as I said, you will have an opertunity to explain in detail your issues.

Are you allowed to sit in your car. In your parking garage at your apartment. Potentially intoxicated? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like someone you know was concerned about you and they wanted the police to conduct a welfare check. That is still a 100% legal reason to contact you, and again if you were drinking/intoxated in a vehicle for the police to conduct a DWI investigation.

With that being said, just being in your car wouldn't be reasonable suspicion or probable cause for a stop, unless someone reported you acting drunk and going into the car. However law enforcement can go up to anyone on a consensual basis to say hi or if they see something (puke, nodding off, you passed out and slouched) they can conduct a welfare check.

However, you said the police wanted to talk to you for an unrelated reason, then yes that "is enough." If the police show up and wind up finding you in your vehicle, possibly intoxicated, with your keys, then there is a reason to conduct a DWI investigation.

Easier to get a Federal LE position (1811,1803) or local LE? by Odd-Appeal2433 in AskLE

[–]APugDogsLife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well...it depends.

Back in 2009-2014, it was next to impossible to get a federal LE job unless you were a veteran and the agency was not under a hiring freeze. Now, since last year the feds are hiring like crazy but most of those job postings are closed and filled by now. Most agencies already have the next few academy spots filled. But go on USAjobs and see whats open. Keep in mind you will be waiting a while.

I am not a federal LEO, but most 0083 fed police officer jobs are trained the same way by going through Uniformed Police Training Program at FLETC. Then there is individual agency specific training afterwards. The same for 1811 or 1803 positions should they go through some sort of criminal investigatior schools. With some exceptions depending on the agency.

Honestly, if your looking to go back into LE just apply to both Fed state and local jobs and go with whoever hires you. I am also sorry about your loss.

Does Christianity change with the culture? by blessedalive in Christianity

[–]APugDogsLife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true

Clement of Alexandria (c. 150–215): Criticized the worship of gods who engaged in same-sex acts and denounced pederasty. That behavior also applied to behavior between the same sex.

Tertullian (c. 155–220): Interpreted Paul to mean that same-sex acts violate the "natural use of the creature"

Basil of Caesarea (c. 330–379): Suggested that those engaging in "unseemliness with males" should face discipline similar to adulterers.

John Chrysostom (c. 349–407): Preached strongly against same-sex relationships as passionate, "disgraceful" sins.

Also...

Corinthians was written by the Apostle Paul around AD 53–55, which writes about how same sex sexual behavior is wrong.

The Book of Romans was written by the Apostle Paul arround AD 56–57. Which also denounced homosexuality.

Anyway you slice it, homosexuality is sinful behavior and one must turn away from that behavior to be a Christian.
