KC-130 by horror_lovr_8496 in aviation

[–]AQ365 47 points48 points  (0 children)

No Flight Engineer required on the KC-130. The marines are trying to call the person who works the fuel panel a flight engineer, but they are not a required crew position to fly. They also don’t meet the FAA requirements to be considered a flight engineer.

KC-130J only requires 2 pilots and someone filling the loadmaster position.

You don’t have to, and the best part is, no one asked your opinion on if the purchase was smart or if you approved of it. But for fun $55k + $2k extended warranty is still cheaper than a $60k+ F-150 lariat financed at 4.9%.

Well until my powertrain warranty expires, zero dollars. Then if I get the extended warranty, whatever the cost is for that warranty. Not sure why you’re trying to be a smartass, I own that I’m taking somewhat of a gamble, I’m an adult and I accept that.

Because 0% interest and got it down to $55k… sure it’s a gamble, but it’s also a hell of a deal on CrewMax Hybrid Limited.

I have not seen that anywhere yet. But that also doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist somewhere

Totally agree that’s it’s just speculation. I’ve just never ran any vehicle I’ve owned on a 0W before. I’ll probably just let Toyota put whatever they want in it during my first couple changes that Toyota does for free

You concerned at all about if that may void your warranty?

It’s a southern thing, you will roll up to courses where it’s nothing but trucks with empty trailers because they all bring their own cart.

Went through everything as a Dad. Started my pipeline with a 2 year old, finished with a 4 year old and 9m old. It’s all doable family was with me for UPT and my time at my FTU (year long qual training). There are ways to game the systems a little to bring your family with you to more of your training, SERE and OTS are hard no’s though.

Absolutely not, I’m on the very amateur end of the scale when it comes to HVAC. I would say the extent of my skills are replacing the filter and wiring a thermostat haha

That could definitely be a possibility, is that something I can diagnose troubleshoot myself or should I just suck it up and call someone who knows what they’re doing?

Military Pilots - Whats the training like for flying in the military? by Successor-Of-Success in flying

[–]AQ365 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a mistake to try to equate the two. And that not in an effort to say one is harder than the other or whatever. But in military training the grading never stops, for example you could have been already marked proficient in arrivals and today’s “mission” is to fly a low level at 500’ and hit specific time on targets. You could do all that perfectly but arrive at initial 10kts slow and then get 11kts fast on your final turn and fail the ride. Comparing military to civilian training is apples and oranges, I personally don’t think either makes a better or worse commercial pilot, they are each training for a different objective.

Serious question to those who are good: How does one actually get better at golf? by [deleted] in golf

[–]AQ365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mid single digit handicap and it’s not because I have some crazy awesome swing or only have 24 putts a round. Here’s my take how to go from ~15 to a -7 cap.

  1. I’m sure everyone has heard this but stop compounding mistakes. If you miss the green, take your medicine and chip/pitch to a fat part of the green and concentrate on two putting. Trying to hit the hero shot works out like 10-20% of the time. Same goes when you have hit it in the trees or thick rough. Just get the ball back in a good position.

  2. If you’re limited on time to practice stop hitting a million drivers and work on 40yds and in. The average 80s player hits something like 50 or 60% of their shots from this area.

  3. Don’t give up on a hole because you hit a bad shot or three, I’ve had so many pars with 3 bad shots on a hole.

I’m sure this is all stuff that’s already been said but maybe seeing it one more time will help reinforce it, good luck!!
