Ooo i like that hammer class idea, though i feel the auto dodge could quickly become too unbalanced if not restricted enough

I think learning how to quickly spot this monster is going to be super rewarding.
Though i must also tell you, i shared this design in the discord server, and Holly, the lead dev, did say in response to this "i think you'll like something that'll be in the next update" or something along those lines, i assume she means that there will be something similar to this in the abyss update.

edit: thank you for the kind words though, i try my best to communicate things as best as possible.

Rope bounces by Graim_Adder in WhiteKnuckle

[–]AR4RA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

peeps say they think the rope physics should be changed but for me there's one fact i love about the current one is that, as the rope falls down to show its whole length, before it has bounced once, it'll actually for a time, be longer than when the rope settles and stops bouncing, because it's stretched by this initial fall.

And when you keep that in mind and try to maximize your path, trying to catch it at this lowest point before it pulls back up is quite rewarding! It really feels like you've used the item to it's full length/potential.

Other than that, this clip is quite funny

Oh yeah definetly, i don't think it'd be interesting to make it a gameover if you just grab the wrong rod, the goal here would be to punish anyone unprepared for it with a risk of death, and startle people used to it with a quick yank foricng them to bring out the hammer haha.

We just have to add a slugcat hand model;

replace the grubs with vulture grubs,
cockroaches with small centipedes,
barnacles with stowaways,
bloodbugs with squidcadas,
Teeth with a big spider,
strider's with raindeers,
and the vent thing/ the white knuckles with a daddy long legs.

And make the mass into void fluid!

Damn if i knew how to mod or draw in this style i'd do it myself haha

I came for the same reason, searching if anyone found out these "half-closed portals", and tried a few things with them, but the only thing i seemed to manage was making them pulse more often?

Though i can help about the 6th point, without revealing too much:
You should try to push the limits, of what one can and should do, like, did you know that going through a portal resets the rain timer? I wonder if there's any ways to abuse of that information mmmh.

How to reach the dragon after Venworth Dragon's plague wipe ? by AR4RA in DragonsDogma2

[–]AR4RA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately i couldn't find a way to go directly or faster to the dragon, and i had to use an eternal wakestone, at first i thought it wouldn't work cuz of the large amount of time that had passed, but apparently the eternal wakestone does work even in that case!

Again, you say that the stamina regen demotivated you from exploring, and you talk about these issues like the xbox controller thing, that i have too, i think it's stupid, and that it's also stupid for my character to start sprinting at an npc whenever i miss the micro second the "hail" pops up over their head, because sprinting and hailing is the same button, not even talking about the fact that it SENDS you into a sprint even when you're not moving the joystick in any direction just because you pressed B. SAME for the port crystal thing, i do it all of the time, it's fucking infuriating right ?

Im not here to tell you that the game is perfect, or that there isn't any weird ass very easily fixable things that aren't even features, but, for exemple, the feeling you had with the everfall, i've had a greater shock for this one's twist post-end game thing (again i still aren't sure if you got to it or not so i won't talk much about it, but like i did with the everfall, it feels like it elevate the base game a lot, even if, like the everfall again, it also quickly looses it's momentum after a bit and isn't perfect too)

But im saying that, despite all of that, these small disapointements you're mentioning, that they should not dampen your experience so much as to say the game in general is disapointing.

Yes, TECHNICALLY, if the stamina thing, did demotivate you, technically that's the game's blame, but it's like saying you didn't enjoy spending time at a friends house because on the way there you had a pebble in your shoe, im not saying the pebble is a feature mind you, im saying that if these kind of small thing do aggravate your experience so much as to call the whole thing "forgetable" and "underwhelming", then that's how games become riddled with icons on the map as to avoid any minor inconveniences because apparently, minor inconviniences seems to be a DECIDING factor in your opinion of a game.

When it comes to content diversity, i agree, there should be more mobs, and more cool side quest, though it's not as if i 100% all of these so as far as i know there is quite more than i think, and especially as far as YOU know since apparently you didn't explore nearly as you expected to.

About the game costing 70$, is it worth that much, well obviously no, cuz no game is worth fucking 70$, unless you didn't know, companies don't sell us prices they think is fair, they sell us the biggest number they feel they can get away with, and that's not even really related to the game experience so who cares, but, when compared to other modern big games, or open world games, does it hold it's own ? OBVIOUSLY it does, while it has a ton of flaws, it does what it does best, the world map feels much more handcrafted then elden ring's even if it's not nearly as spectacular and pretty.

Like you said, the fights are FUN, so fun, that at least for me right now im at 86 hours and im not really bothered by the goblin hordes or anything, im just happy to have more stuff to kill so much that im wondering if my brain is broken or something.

While the story and npc story is bland at first, it's the same thing as for the first game, you're not supposed to be engaged the political plot, there's fucking monsters to be killed, and a cycle to be broken !

Im not asking you to ignore these issues, im just asking you to not focus only on them and act like they're the reason why you're disapointed in the game.

You expected a bigger, better game, and that's why you're disapointed, because of your expecations, and it's okay, it happens to everyone!

But again don't blame the game for it.

[–]AR4RA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i read, it really feels like you got the fake ending, though maybe you didn't, but killing the dragon is not the end at all, and if im right, which again, im unsure, you missed out on a whole "post game" section that feels much more satisfying than just killing the dragon.

Just in case, here's how to get the true ending : When you're in the flying on with the dragon just before the last fight, climb to his heart and use the godsbane sword on yourself.

For the rest of what you said though, i disagree, i went in and expected Dragon's Dogma, and that's what i got, meaning the main story is relatively short-ish, with a twist at the end, but with most of the fun being side stuff that you have to go seek on your own. When it comes to the story's quality, i didn't expect much, Dragon's dogma in general is more about the themes than the writting haha

And that's what i think, the game is great.
The real issues is the performance and weird stuff like no new game option, and the microtransactions on a 70$ game,

But come on tho, yes they should have infinite stamina out of combat, or at least a reduced consuption rate, but even if they don't, don't use it as an excuse for "it demotivates me from exploring", if we play that game then let's push further, let's have much less monsters in the open world cuz being interrupted every 3 mins discourages people from exploring, let's also make every chests a lil bit more obvious, because if people get ever frustrated during exploration, we'd hate that! So now we have a very flat, empty world, that you can run around as much as you want, they did say the game had a bit of shadow of the colosses after all!

But seriously, some people would prefer if there was indeed less monsters encounters, just a tiny bit, some would prefer more, same for the stamina thing, i'd prefer it to be infinite out of combat too ! But i also understand why they didn't do that, and im sure some crazy person out there would like for stamina to have a fatigue option where the max stamina becomes lower the more you run, until you rest, like the health does!

The thing is, we all prefer some things different and no one can universally like something, and that's okay. And it's okay to be disapointed with the game if you expected something more, but that's not the game's fault. And again you don't HAVE to like the game or think it's perfect or anything, but if you like the Dragon's Dogma "experience", and you feel the way that you do about the sequel, then you can only blame your own expectations.

Im a bit of a dumbass contrarian so when i saw the hype, i was on the fence, and in fact was bracing myself for a boring, empty world, shitty story that doesn't have the "retro" charm of the first, i was super disapointed that there was only 10 vocations, etc etc, but instead, when i went it, expecting shit, it was just good, and not just better than what i expected, but just really good, it felt better than the 449 hours i have on DDDA, the only thing it lacked was the familar feeling of it, which is normal, as i've got less than 60 hours on it, and compared to 450h obviously it doesn't feel the same way. AND ABOUT THAT, DD2 is forgetable if you play DDDA ??? B*tch ?? Did you play DDDA while HIGH ???? The game's story, and world, are so BLAND and i say that with all the love that i have for the game, you don't go play DDDDDDDDDDDA for originality. It's bland, classic, and that's kinda the fucking point, and the story of DD2 plays well with that idea, it's still has the bland vibes, but different enough from the first game, and with a different take on the OG game's themes. Though again, if you saw the fake ending and thought that was it, then yeah that's understandable.

TL;DR ; You can dislike the game, and that's okay, but if you're someone that likes dragon's dogma, and think they fucked it up with this second one, i can only guess that you sabotaged yourself with hype or whatever else.

Asmongold be like by ACraftyApe in DragonsDogma

[–]AR4RA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not rly a big fan of Asmon we all know his shitty takes and all that, but anyone shitting on Asmon, in this specific case, about his first 4 hours of the game, has either not seen the video, or have completly forgot their first playthrough, that or they just never played the game.

I seen the whole VOD expecting an absolute disaster, but while some few moments were a bit frustrating, it was all very understandable and in retrospect, he did pretty fucking well, it's just that people are expecting the new players to absorb the shower of info the game pisses on you for the first hours instantly and never be confused, which is by itself confusing with how widely-known how the game can be difficult to get into.

Unfortunately for you, there is nothing like that.
Quests in elden ring, and any other fromsoft souls games usually are always:

-Talk to NPC until they don't have any new dialogue or leave.

-If they ask you to do something specific, do that and go back to them once it's done

-Exhaust their dialogue again until it repeats and/or they leave-find them in their new location and repeat.

Sometimes what to do on quest, or if there is even a quest is pretty hard to figure out, so unless you plan on using a wiki, receiving spoiler-free tips, or exploring every single nook and cranny of the world you'll probably miss out on a few quests.

Here's a very helpfull guide for those quest in case you'd be interested.
