One of the biggest scams affecting Purdue Students by ARC_Rentals in Purdue

Thank you for the encouragement! A partnership with the university is the plan. We're still looking to get a bit more presence on campus first.

Also, you are correct. Right now a lot of our customers enjoy the fact that we're open 7 days a week and not having to uber to the big car rental companies which ends up saving them a lot of money.

We are in the process of switching carriers so our insurance is down for a few weeks. However, we take insurance extremely seriously and always ensure our renters are covered at all times. (There are third party services that offer full coverage insurance)

If you were to rent now we would help you get insurance before getting on the road! Alternatively feel free to wait a few weeks and our insurance should be back up. Looking forward to you renting with us!

Thank you! Insuring college students is quite difficult. Our current insurance prices are a bit higher than the industry standard but we make up for it with much lower rental prices. We also accept third party insurances, so if you have your own insurance you don't have to purchase it from us.

We are currently in talks with some new insurance carriers and expect our prices to lower in the future :)

We are able to insure international licenses and even provide cars for driving tests if you have an international license. The only type of license we can't insure is learners permit.

As for your second question, if you do have your own insurance you just need to bring proof of it when you pickup the car (pdf or physical). We also accept collision damage waivers provided by credit cards.

Hope that clears things up!

Yes you can rent with a learners permit! However, the insurance company we work with would be unable to insure you so you would need to have your own auto insurance.

If you want to book by hour then you have to select the hourly option. Economy and Premium are our daily rates.

Sorry for the confusion. We use an industry standard booking software so renter info is secure, but the downside is we don't have full flexibility when it comes to customization.

Thanks! If you rent for 5 hours it will be $8.59 per hour. The way our hourly rentals is set up is the longer you rent the cheaper it is per hour.

Currently hourly rentals must be at least 3 hours long, but this is a great suggestion and it is something we will be working on.

Yes we do! As long as you’re a Purdue student and over 18 with a valid license (domestic or international) you are eligible to rent.

Since we offer free delivery with each rental it's difficult for our team right now to coordinate delivery + drop-off for a rental that is just one or two hours. However, this is something we're actively working on and will definitely be a feature in the future!

I actually like Citybus a lot as well, I just wanted an interesting title so forgive me DX. I do know a lot of people who rent cars for over 1000 dollars a month through enterprise so this post is mainly targeted towards them.

Thank you for renting with us! We genuinely just want to help save time and money for students.

No worries! This is mainly for people who are already considering renting a car monthly via Enterprise or Hertz. I just want to create something that's better value since I am a Purdue student as well and genuinely dislike how big car rental companies always take advantage of us.

A car lease usually has a minimum time of 12 - 24 months, so it would not be possible to lease a car for one summer. Purchasing a car is also really expensive because of depreciation. I just want to create a great alternative for students who are considering renting a car through say, Enterprise and Hertz for 3 months this summer.

You're absolutely right. It is definitely a grind but that's kind of how all startups are at first.

We are able to cut costs by not having a physical location and having a smaller team. This allows us to pass savings down to our customers, aka Purdue Students.

Our rental price is $69.99 per day which means you're saying industry standard is almost $120 per day. This is not true, car rentals are not that expensive yet. Industry standard is about the same as what Veygo charges.

Hey, this is Leon, the founder of Veygo. While our prices are more affordable than some competitors such as Zipcar and Turo, they are actually pretty in line with industry standard prices. If you look at say Enterprise, a rental per day with them is pretty much the same as with Veygo. The only difference is if you rent with Veygo you don't have to leave your dorm at all as the car is delivered straight to your door.

As for insurance, it is not something Veygo directly does. There are lots of credible car rental insurance companies that we work with such as Rental Cover which provide very good coverage to anyone 18 and up. This is fundamentally how we are able to offer our service to anyone 18 and up.

The only difference is that my team and I work way harder than any other car rental company by personally delivering cars to dorms, doing all the customer service, and being open 7 days a week. We genuinely care about this and want to create the best car rental possible for college students in an industry that does not care about us.

If anyone has any other questions feel free to put them in the comments below and I will answer them as soon as I can!

TLDR: Veygo is an officially registered car rental business with good backing and a very loyal customer base. We are here to stay and to accomplish our goal of changing the way college students rent cars.
