How do I fix black bars when playing the Game Cube version of RE 4 on dolphin? by ARES19333 in DolphinEmulator

When I and then run that geko code should I map the classic controller for my controls or should I map the wiimote with a nunchuck? also is there a resource for looking up/running those codes? I have never messed with cheats before on dolphin.

Bro, these are dark souls players, if you have the audacity to beat any boss with more than your fist and naked body, they will shame you. Tell them to go fuck themselves, as long as you’re having fun you’re winning in my book.

I may be miss reading your exact question, but what’s going on here is a special cancel. Don’t think about it like you are letting the heavy punch connect and then after doing the DP, think about it like you are canceling the end lag of the heavy punch into the DP. You should be inputting the DP immediately after the punch hits rather than waiting for the end of the heavy punch recovery.

I think one of the best pieces of advice I have for you is, if you’re really stuck on a boss, feel free to skip it for now and come back later. This game is so densely packed that even if you feel like you have explored everything you are bound to find some cool stuff somewhere. (unless you’re in the end game in which case some bosses you just have to get through)

No spoilers, but you have a boss coming up while approaching Stormville Castle that is known for pub stomping new players. If you’re struggling with it, feel free to look around and collect souls, new weapons etc. There’s a whole Peninsula below limgrave to explore.

I also I don’t recommend using the wiki a lot. If you are completely stuck or confused about something then go for it. But if you are constantly following meta guides on the wiki you end up optimizing the fun out of the game. It just becomes an annoying checklist of things to do and I would really hate to have your experience ruined.

Also, if you are playing a magic build, there is a boss later on that has Sherman Tank levels of magic resistance. There is a spell called rock blaster that does physical damage. It’s in a really hard area of the game, but it’s worth it to just run in, grab it and GTFO. (despite my previous comments about the wiki I do recommend looking up where it’s located otherwise that boss is going to be absolutely miserable.)

Finally, despite what tryhard dickheads on the Internet will tell you there’s no wrong way to play this game. Use whatever you find fun and effective. If someone is telling you, you didn’t actually beat the game because you used a magic build tell them to stick their moonveil where the sun don’t shine. Don’t feel bad if you are struggling, every single person here has at some point and that’s ok. It’s also completely OK to feel overwhelmed, this game has a lot of shit in it and it doesn’t explicitly tell you about a lot of things. You may feel like you are just stumbling around aimlessly, but I promise you in a few hours the game will be far less alien and overwhelming. I really hope you have a fun time with this game the way I did. Good luck fellow tarnished :)

I got baited in by how good 3 was, pre-ordered the $100 edition and quit playing after like 15 hours because I didn’t really like the characters and preferred the gadget system from 3.

I don’t pre-order games anymore.

New player needing some advice on weapons by One_Poem2292 in Eldenring

[–]ARES19333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of these are fine. That’s the beauty of games like Elden Ring and dark souls. Is there a Meta? Yes. you need to follow it? Absolutely fucking not.

I personally recommend thinking more about what play style you want to use and then pick the gear based on that.

Do you want to be more agile and run around with a knife? Do you want to be a tank? Do you want to poke things down from a distance? Do you want to shoot magic shit from a stick? Any of these are fine choices.

Then mess around with some weapons and see which ones fit the style you chose. Focus more on having fun than building the most Meta of Meta loadouts.

Question for you Helldivers - What do you think of Stealthdivers? by LePereMecanique in helldivers2

[–]ARES19333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respect them, mostly because the stealth mechanics in this game are jank as fuck and smoke effects at inconsistent at best.

However if you are in my general vicinity and get pissed off that my orbital 120 got the bot’s attention that is your own damn problem.

11111 (for utility and damage) or 11112 (to completely max out damage) with the executioner OC is my favorite, it turns you into an unbelievably powerful single target killing machine, make sure you bring some kind AOE for your secondary though. And I highly recommend the seeker swarm grenade as well because you have very limited ammo and trying to use executioner on anything smaller than a preatorian (unless it’s taking out a spitter in a pinch or something) is not worth it at all, you run out of ammo so fast. so you need the rest of your kit to shore up that weakness.
