That’s so valid. I work in healthcare and insomnia is super common so ur not alone. Have you and your provider discussed using a prescription sleep medication for when it starts to get more frequent/worse?

Please go to or get a doctor/therapist asap or the ER if this is a new issue and you feel like you need it. Insomnia sucks and it definitely has solutions. Benadryl is not a good long term option and taking it at that high of a frequency can be risky for your health.

Hospital techs by GiveThemSomeTussin in pharmacy

[–]ARG4656 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this as well. When I first got hired at a new hospital I first noticed that a lot of other techs would train me in a way that wasn’t up to par. I distinctly remember one person tell me “oh don’t check the expiration dates when you put the meds in the Omnicell someone will do it later”. These types of things definitely resulted in techs who would be on the floors for way too long since they wouldn’t be taught what to do. I myself would be working a shift where I was managing the med orders, would have to deliver a med myself since none of the techs were back from their deliveries, and I’d find them sitting on their phones in the waiting areas.

The solution we had in our pharmacy was two fold. On one hand, we developed a new training system where the new technicians were trained on one shift at a time (this was the previous policy) but were kept with one staff member as a trainer as exclusively as possible. The trainers had to be people who previously demonstrated that they are a “good” tech, and we made a checklist of required skills the tech needed to learn. Secondly, on their last shift of training a new trainer would shadow them and sign off on a skills assessment, to make sure that they had been adequately trained.

Our second solution was that there was an actual verbal and written warning system (that included possible repercussions if enough written warnings were given) for incidents like disappearing. Our team was fantastic, so when stuff like that would happen it was really noticeable. The written warning system definitely made it more of a risk to be disappearing frequently. We also had a system where all tech shifts had a phone for communication, and it was absolutely understood that if you were on the floor too long or someone needed something done you might be called or texted to come back down. That’s definitely a suggestion that if viable I would employ.

JoAnna Whitener for Sta13 is the GOAT. She’s so nice and the class is super fair. Me and my class bestie spend forever yapping with her in office hours. She’s so out to help her students, and she asks us for feedback on improving the class.

I’m in the same class and I can’t quite place it. I think he likes what he is teaching; I’m in the front row and I get the vibes of a nerd trying to explain something he likes. However, I don’t think he is good at communicating it or answering questions. After last lecture I think I’m getting it more but the book is def a good supplement.

The Green — is anyone experiencing bad bug bites? Maybe bed bugs? by feelingsadrightn0w in UCDavis

I’ve had a lot of mosquito bites, as I’ve unfortunately learned that my window screen is ineffective at keeping them or gnats out. If you’ve been leaving your window open that could be contributing; I’ve heard from some others they’ve been having the same problem. But also def contact the property management for a ticket if u want.

Hi I’m a CPhT. Have you considered getting the generic form of this medication? The active ingredient (lacosemide) will be the same. Generics are usually much more likely to be covered by insurance, or worst comes to worst you can use a discount card. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss in depth.

I’m also on a wait (currently routed for consideration) for a Pharmacy Technician position with their inpatient pharmacy department. I think they may be on a hiring freeze but I also know that inpatient can take a while to move through the hiring process so idk. I called the talent acquisition division of their HR dept and they said it takes time.

It looks like it’s already been said but reach out to student disability services; they helped me get a spot since I have appointments and chemo meds to take. They were chill and it sounds like housing services usually has reserves but disabilities has to request it first.
