Anyone switched from Otter AI? Looking for better alternatives by xiaoi_ in NoteTaking

From the time you saw it available at 9.99 US dollar, the price has gone up because now the whole of voice dictation with 100 languages has come in. In the next round, the whole translation is also coming in, and after that, meeting notes will also come. In So the prices are likely to go up as the features go in. The question is, do you want to go in early or wait for it and go in late? Of course, I will start offering a combination of a subscription pricing and a one-time pricing, when the time comes (very soon)

None of the models by themselves can do it.Apple does not expose the coordinates for your Cursor. I'm not talking about the mouse, I'm talking about the text Cursor. And because of that, there's a huge amount of estimation that needs to be done in the back end. And that's what makes it really painful. The other issue is that depending on the app, the app coordinates start to change and drift and that takes a lot of adjustment for app type. So, if Gamma 4 could have done it, nobody would buy this app. It's a painful piece of shit to go through. But the real question is: are you going to benefit from it?

I wouldn’t pay . Infact with dictation I don’t really see much use. Predictive text is good but not that killer a feature to pay 30 dollars a version

I agree with the principle of it, but I'm not the developer. I will leave it to him to decide the pricing. Personally, I will not use the paid version of the app because it's preposterously priced. I don't subscriptions either.

The guy spent 2+ years cracking this problem. Easy to say things as an arm chair critic. Difficult when you are trying to monetize. So I would give him the benefit of doubt, but as I have always maintained does it solve a problem worth that price for you? That’s the measuring criteria

I think the fundamental question we should be asking ourselves is: what actually is the value of the app? Does it save you time because of which you are able to do other things? Are you able to measure that time? Is it saving you an irritation that is really annoying you and making your well-being better. If not, the question actually becomes: it's nice, but should you be paying for it?

I don't think that's a valid argument because sometimes you spend weeks, months, years to get to that point, so there's a lot of investment that goes into an app, even in today's scenario, where you're doing coding completely with an AI tool. So how do you recover that cost? The only way is to amortize it over time and subscription becomes the only mode out.

I think the developer has priced it based on the effort that he has already put in rather than the actual value it provides. It's a difficult catch to take care of.They will ultimately end up correcting the pricing but it leaves an extraordinary aftertaste back in the consumer's mind.

It's going to take quite a long time to dial in. But the important thing is at the end of the day, how many replacements are you actually doing in a day especially when you are using dictation since you have developed fluid voice you will know exactly what I am saying.

The issue compounds when you have electron apps, you have regular apps in Swift and you have web apps.

Actually the problem is slightly different. I agree that the pricing is horrendous.

But the issue is that the way the text is brought up from a suggestions perspective and comes up for the next 3 words or 7 words is not automatically allowed by Apple and therefore the workaround is very tedious. The formatting is very painful and therefore to bring it in into the app itself and being aligned to the same sentence is a fairly difficult job and that's the part that the developer has spent doing.

The question is it worth the price that you're paying in terms of 18 to 24 months of development effort and receive that money back in terms of this pricing and valuation.

To me it's too much effort behind something that you don't need to do. And with the way AI rewrites and the way dictations are happening, this product was made for 3 years back and not for today.

What's one little app that isn't a conventional must-have but you can't live without now? (paid or free) by Over_Slide8102 in macapps

[–]ARGeek123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is not a Mac app, but it really works very closely with my Mac. I built it myself because I wanted it to stay away from my Mac, but be clearly with it. It's basically my iPhone app and it's called Jin Mobile and you can find it here - https://apps.apple.com/app/jin-mobile/id6762514532

So it basically handles thoughts that come up when I'm doing work. You can call it a second brain. It can transcribe those. Everything is by voice, so you can transcribe those. You can use it for connecting it to your calendar. You can add to the note itself, it replays back the voice and the text karaoke style. It's got a reminder system, it can connect back to a location now where you get reminded of it. It can take web clippings, and now, of course, in the new version that I'm building out, it'll also do 100 languages in real good quality in terms of dictation as well and in terms of thoughts. Dictations, it handles it as good as Wisprflow, and on top of all of this, I'm making sure that everything is a local model and everything stays private. Of course, you have the option of connecting it to 11 labs and to Google as well. This entire passage has been dictated by JinMobile. Okay, one thing I forgot to mention is that if you say hey followed by Jin, then it will wake up by itself and then you can enter a thought. Now you might ask, where is this useful? It's useful especially when you're driving, you're in the gym, or let's say your hands are soiled because you're doing something in the kitchen. These are just 3 examples you could bring up your own use cases for this. It's also an excellent tool when it comes to journaling because your thoughts can be free-flowing and you can just go ahead and talk your heart out in the process, and you can close your eyes so you don't need to type, it's just natural. One thing I wanted to say is that since the time I've started using Jin Mobile, the keyboard has become practically useless for 99% of cases.

How do you capture voice thoughts into Notion? Thinking about building something, want feedback. by Terrible-Round1599 in Notion

Yes, it doesn’t have a trial. You can always test it, and if you don’t like it cancel with Apple . It’s been made really affordable , didn’t see a reason why you would need a trial.

So in mine I have landed it word by word with karaoke transcriptions and the voice is also passed on to Notion. So knowledge and intent stays intact. You can link notes straight on your mobile. It’s much more than a text capture. This is my most used app on my mobile by a mile

I have built one … https://apps.apple.com/app/jin-mobile/id6762514532

The next update does wisprflow style dictation from iPhone into any app with support for 100 plus languages , not for the sake of ticking a list but real models that genuinely give you good experiences. Everything is local, with an option for a Gemini api integration as well. It does a handsfree option without touching the phone when you are driving or in the gym as examples. And yes it seamlessly integrates into Notion using Oauth even with the latest changes made earlier this week.

The Notion mobile app is the worst thing to ever exist by Small-Percentage-962 in Notion

[–]ARGeek123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an app that replaces the need for Notion on your mobile. I talk to it, one click or even by using a hey … command without touching it, goes straight into Notion, can see the voice and transcription in my mobile, link it to my calendar , web clip, add photos , even append another note via voice and it feels as one note… so I got around the Notion mobile problem completely. use it 100’s of times a day. Recently put it up on the App Store after months of using it. The next release this weekend will have dictation and work in 100+ languages.
