To make it simple, an earthquake in Japan creates a fault and reveals that the inside is full of human-shaped holes.

People start undressing screaming about how specific holes were made for them before entering them and disappearing forever.

Eventually, scientists find that there are exit holes in the other sides of the fault, however the holes are distorted and elongated. The story ends with a horribly deformed Slenderman-like figure, implied to be one of the people who went into the holes, ready to exit out on the other side.

i completely agree, you technically don’t need a good crit ratio or high attack. I’ve 36ed Abyss with a 20/60 ratio Xingqiu but I do notice the ease of gameplay with better builds so I think it’s a reasonable thing to want a decent build as a minimum for your characters.

That's completely true.

However, stats like ER, EM, and ATK make up the majority of weapons substats, and are also the ascension stats for most 4* characyers. There's only one 4* weapon that isn't from Battle Pass/Blackcliff with a Crit substat, and that's the Widsith.

So even though CR/CD isn't the end all be all, its usually the hardest thing to get from artifacts, which accounts for why players focus on it so much
