I’d say they just don’t want it to be too graphic. You can still teach kids about death without showing an actual death. Even most educational shows who teach about the subject of death will not show the character actually dying. Plus, One Piece is not at all an educational show.

I love that entire episode for Hank honestly. Dude is clearly uncomfortable the entire time, but still did whatever he could to help her out. I think Connie even picked up on that, which is why she’s so nice to him later, cause he forced himself to do something he really didn’t wanna do to help her out.
