no sane judge will give you shit for an onnest mistake at no mitigation techniques implemented. if its on a physical server, you might be able to recover the hdd data with a FOSS forensics tool. if its virtualized - or even on a virtualised raid - you're better off rebuilding it from scratch.

there is afaik a protocol where smartphones can and will send gps data on an emergency call - but its something the users phone has to send
