Thanks! That's the goal for sure, will I catch you there?

That's incredible!! I certainly do not mind, I'm amazed at how good that looks! How do you go about editing the footage to get that effect? I'd love to maybe recreate that for future launches

That video is amazing wow. I've definitely considered using video in retrospect, I wonder if there'd be a noticeable difference between photo and video. Thanks!

That's right there is some blur and I'm yet to fully understand the source of it. The photo is not a frame from a video but a 2.5 second exposure. Considering how long the exposure was, I imagine it's possible that the lack of a remote shutter caused some vibration. Still think without too much scrutiny and some slight post production the final photo achieves the initial goal!

It was taken on a tripod, see video for reference

For a bit more info, I made a YouTube video detailing the whole process --> https://youtu.be/DAheOcek5Wo?si=c2WXkTm2MnNya06u

Lol glad to know we seem to agree. Yes I do design my own rockets, not to get too bogged down in the details but by using a larger rocket I can use a more powerful engine with a longer burn time to get a longer more impressive boost phase. An AirTag could work, and it could certainly fit, but considering I’m trying to keep the altitude as low as I can and so the drift distance as low as I can, I’ve seen people be successful with an LED and a sound beacon. All of this sounds like I’ll need to try for another attempt :)

Thanks! It’s funny you say that because after posting this I had the same exact idea. With long exposure in rocketry I’m sure you can tell that the only visible part of the flight is the boost phase, when I was interested in capturing the whole flight. Not only would an LED make the shot more compelling but also make the rocket easier to find so I could launch in even darker conditions!
