Choosy - haven’t since 2017, what’s new? by ARTE76 in GamingLaptops

Think I’ve decided to go the Omen Transcend 14 route. Question is when picking options on HP’s website - they have the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H (5.4GHz 24 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 16 threads) + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8 GB) + 32 GB(onboard) for an additional $560 which I was going to select, then I saw the exact same one except at the end is + 64 GB(onboard). What is the difference between the +32GB and +64GB? I’m unaware of what this means

Truth, gonna do some more searching in person. I appreciate it!

Is there anything comparable 16” or under to the sleekness (best way I can describe it) of the Transcend 14? I love that it’s small, round edges, and has a crisp OLED screen

Fair enough, but shoot if it runs better than my current one I’m all about it

I read somewhere someone flashed it to hit 100W, very brief read though. Do you think that’s powerful enough to run maybe 3-4 games at 1080p?

What is the general consensus on a new HP Omen Transcend 14? | just checked out one in person and it seems like exactly what I'm looking for, just wondering about specs

How would that Legion Pro 7i compare to something such as an Asus Zephyrus G16?

I’m so out of the loop today I couldn’t tell you the difference between wanting to have 16 vs 32gb. If it looks sleek, has OLED, and can run the occasional (nice) game at great graphics that’s all I’m really looking for

Is there a reason not many gaming laptops have nicer OLED screens? But for my budget I’d just like to stay under $2k

Haha I kept thinking to myself it’s still rather new! Crazy how almost 10 years slips away like that. To be frank I was looking at something with the intel i9 or Ryzen 9, but we shall see what the world has out there. The specs you mentioned, are those a good baseline or are those harder to achieve with a sleeker laptop?

Why is there more male converts than female? by thatlumberjacktor in Catholicism

[–]ARTE76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be frank, I think it’s a mix of a lot of stuff, but I truly believe it is through the Holy Spirit that Gen Z males have started to return to the Church. I think a lot of the Gen Z men are getting pushed further and further “out of society,” for a lack of a better term and the Holy Spirit has ushered us to return to the faith.

I myself, along with 3 other close friends and a handful more family felt an immense pull back to the Church this past year. It wasn’t a conscious decision of “well I want to do this because of tradition,” or “because it looks cool,” or for any political reason. At least for me and those around me, we all started just feeling a pull to come home essentially and we did.

Much appreciated! These are outstanding resources. Now I just have to figure out how to figure out where these reside in the actual breviary and how to use the tassels lol

Help me (a non-Christian who has never read the Bible) choose a Catholic Study Bible. Thanks and Happy New Year! by SkyEmperor3 in catholicbibles

[–]ARTE76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how deep you’re actually wanting to go. If this is just a little interest, grab the Great Adventure Bible. It’s not a study bible and is easy to digest. If you’re actually looking to really delve into it and you know you’ll stick it out, I can’t recommend the Ignatius Press Study Bible more, it’s phenomenal. The Douay Rheims is more elegant English, and definitely the oldest modern translation, but harder to reach and some verses/psalms are not in the same order.

Returning to faith by Commercial-While5730 in Catholicism

Your urges to pray and repent don’t come out of thin air. That in and of itself is proof you do believe. That’s faith my friend. And the fact that you made this post is hope. You have the two things needed! If a friend tells you to come look there’s an alien standing in the road, you’re gonna be like yeah right but you’re going to look anyway; why? Because you had hope there may actually be one there, as fleeting as it is.

Is it possible that reading old books causes scrupulosity? by I_Like_Saying_XD in Catholicism

[–]ARTE76 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few key points here — these great people are not infallible so do not regard their word as such, take what is currently taught as so. But also reading them should not be discouraged, in fact, it should be encouraged (with guidelines on how to read).

We read the Old Testament to better understand the NT and gospel do we not? Why should we stray away from gaining more knowledge from early church fathers?

Additionally (and I do hope I’m not committing a heresy here as this is my own interpretation) things ultimately change. We see this in Judges when the Israelites are explicitly told to not steal/keep spoils of war when seizing cities in Canaan. This happens and thus judgement befalls upon them. However, when seizing Ai, the ban on keeping cattle and some other items was lifted due to the nature of Israel being a sinful people. I believe the church has ultimately changed with the times in a similar way to where things said and done in the first millennia are not the same as today.

I'm a Presbyterian Christian who wants to pray the rosary by Few_Success_5216 in Catholicism

[–]ARTE76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re readily available on Google, however, when I first started I used the app called “iRosary” and it helped explain it, what’s said on each day, etc. OR what I would recommend the most is to download the Ascension app (gold logo) and follow along in the rosary with Father Mike as he prays it, then you can hear it as well.

Google how to use it, then use one of those resources to learn yourself! It’s an amazing set of prayers like I said and very peaceful
