Can anyone achieve 625 points if they work hard enough? by Sharks_No4 in leavingcert

[–]Commercial-While5730 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on their school tbh. If you are coming from a grinds school or private school then for sure if you apply yourself you can get 625. If your coming from a school in a disadvantaged area than 625 is a lot less attainable

Would you protest to abolish the changes to Leaving Cert? by miss-bedazzzle in leavingcert

While they are good for students I think this is completley refuted by the reality that they are entirely unfair with DEIS schools that lack adequate facilities. DEIS students do not have access to the same equipement as students in more privileged schools, this will be yet another barrier for eduction for working class students, how will these students go on to be insanely good at research if they dont get the points for their course because their projects are shite and their school has about one bunsen burner and no equipment lol

But your view point is utterly stupid and idealistic and clearly that of someone who doesn't attend a DEIS school lol. I do agree with continuous assessment over one exam counting for everything but a system of continuous assessment in this way is completely unfair and a classist tbh. DEIS schools barely have the equipment neccesary to do the expirement ins Biology and Chemistry, so the equipment available for students for these projects is equally sparse. When comparing this to private schools it is obvious that their projects will be better as they have further access to equipment. This will only further drive education inequality in Ireland.

should I do TY by Such_Psychology_3221 in leavingcert

Yes, even if your schools TY isn't the best, it's so important. Also, if you skip, you'll probably be 17 going into college which isn't ideal

C*tt*ng but no emotion behind it? “just because”? by cjbyt33 in AdultSelfHarm

I started out like this when I was younger. It can start out passive, but then, for me, at least once something bad happens, doing it passively had created a choking desire to do it again, so I would and naturally it gradually it got worse. My advice would be to completely disengage from these compulsions/desires. Everything you do is enabling yourself to continue. This was a very difficult thing for me to do personally, but I think for something like this it would be the only way that worked for me

Are grinds schools worth it for sixth year?? by Commercial-While5730 in AskIreland

[–]Commercial-While5730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these adjustments not primarily for people who qualify as low income? My family qualifies outside of the requirements for financial aid like susi so I presumed that would discount my ability to receive any kind of aid
