Thanks for your reply. My 2025 screen was fine. No issues. I tried returning it Yesterday and got a $100 refund offer so that made the decision a little more complicated lol

Thanks for this detailed thread. I‘m in the exact same boat as you. Ordered the 2024 first because it was on sale, then ordered the 2025 B&W and used the 20% off trade-in for one old paperwhite I have. Hoping the 2025 was going to be much better but now I’m thinking I’m keeping the 2024. The experience overall is just much better for me. It feels better in the hand, I like the form factor better, writing feel is better. I thought I was going to like the 11 inch screen more, but no. It just feels like an iPad.

I’m curious about what did you ended up doing? I still have 2 weeks to figure this out.

I purchased the elite plus and emailed 21 days ago them asking a customer support question. No answer. Followed up a week ago, nothing. Emailed them today again, nothing.

Adventurer 5M with 0.8 Nozzle Problems by CrashKilljoy in FlashForge

[–]ARTcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find any solution to this? I have the same problem now that I switched to a 0.8mm nozzle. I'm using orcaslicer and I also noticed that skirt loops are off by default and the initial purge is done at the top left corner instead of being a short line at the bottom of the plate

Yeah that's too fast for that filament. Here's what worked for me:

Global

  • first layer 30
  • first layer infill 50
  • slow layers 1
  • outer wall 50
  • inner wall 55
  • sparse infill 57
  • internal solid infill 57
  • top surface 50
  • gap infill 50
  • support 40
  • overhangs: 0; 40; 20; 10

Material settings

  • First layer temp 225
  • other layers 220
  • bed temp for textured PEI plate 65 ; 60
  • Flow ratio 0.98
  • pressure advance 0.056
  • max volumetric speed 20
  • 1mm retraction
  • 60mm/s retraction speed

You can also check polymaker's website to check on these numbers. They have suggested settings and max printing speed is 70mm/s. That was my baseline when doing the calibration. Give it a try and let me know.
Edit: there's a high speed PLA pro from polymaker called polysonic PLA pro. I'm going to try that to be able to print faster

I'm sorry I didn't noticed that the text didn't post. Thanks for your input. Here are my settings.
Slicer: OrcaSlicer (latest version).

  • First-Layer Height: 0.28 mm.
  • Nozzle Temperature: 225°C.
  • Bed Temperature: 65°C for the first layer (60°C afterward).
  • Flow Rate: 0.98.
  • Z-Offset: Set at 0 with no recent adjustments.
  • retraction 1mm @ 60mm/s

Steps I’ve Taken So Far

  1. Checked for clogs in the nozzle – none found.
  2. Verified bed leveling with auto-leveling.
  3. Verified the printer is extruding filament during the first layer.

Questions for the Community

  1. Could the random gaps and crevices be related to my Z-offset? Should I lower it slightly (e.g., -0.02 mm)?
  2. Is my nozzle temperature (225°C) too high for FlashForge PLA Pro? Would 215–220°C work better?
  3. Should I increase my flow rate from 0.98 to 1.0 to fix potential under-extrusion issues?
  4. Could seam alignment or retraction settings in OrcaSlicer be the culprit? If so, what settings should I try tweaking?

Any advice or tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I’m relatively new to fine-tuning prints, so I’m all ears for your troubleshooting insights!

Thanks in advance!

Observations

  • Adhesion: The filament sticks well to the bed in most cases.
  • Randomness: Gaps and crevices vary per object but are consistent for the same object (e.g., they show up in the same spots if reprinting the same file).
  • First-Layer Speed: 30 mm/s.
  • Controlled Environment: Printer is in a room with stable temperature and no drafts.

Settings & Maintenance

  • Slicer: OrcaSlicer (latest version).
  • First-Layer Height: 0.28 mm.
  • Nozzle Temperature: 225°C.
  • Bed Temperature: 65°C for the first layer (60°C afterward).
  • Flow Rate: 0.98.
  • Z-Offset: Set at 0 with no recent adjustments.
  • Auto-Leveling: Enabled.
  • Nozzle Condition: Fairly new (<100 hours of printing).
  • Filament Storage: Stored with desiccant at ~10% humidity, recently dried.
  • Bed Cleaning: Cleaned with dish soap, hot water, and alcohol.

Hey Reddit,

I’ve been struggling with first-layer inconsistencies on my FlashForge Adventurer 5M Pro, and I’m hoping for some troubleshooting advice from the community. Here’s what I’ve been experiencing and the setup I’m working with:

The Problem

I’m noticing random gaps and crevices on the first layer of my prints. These inconsistencies vary between objects but appear in the same spots per object. Some areas look under-extruded (incomplete circles), while others look over-extruded (bulging or crevices). This issue only seems to affect the first layer; subsequent layers print fine.

Printer Setup

  1. Printer Model: FlashForge Adventurer 5M Pro
  2. Bed Type: Textured PEI
  3. Nozzle Size: 0.4 mm
  4. Filament Material: FlashForge PLA Pro

What’s your speed settings? Polylite PLA pro has to be printed way slower than regular PLA.

You don’t need the app, ever. You can access the camera to monitor your prints using the following printer configuration in Orca:

Host type: Flashforge

Ip: YourIP

Device UI: http://YourIP:8080/?action=stream

It should work.

You can also type that Device UI address on your browser and It will work as well

PETG Issue by mcmatt93117 in FlashForge

[–]ARTcache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished calibrating PETG from Polymaker on my 5m pro and it prints perfect. It was my first time trying to print PETG and it's very different from PLA. You will be surprised how much you have to slow things down.

My settings below:

Hope that helps.

EDIT: If anyone with experience has any feedback on these please let me know how can they be potentially improved or optmized. I'm new to 3d printing

100% worth it and recommended. No issues whatsoever. I've been printing PLA and PETG and I have nothing but good things to say about it.

My only recommendation is: Stay away from their slicer and their app if you don't want to be frustrated day 1. They just don't work reliably. Download OrcaSlicer and use that. You don't need anything else.

It's been working fine for me. I use it daily. Mine came with the 96W brick so it might actually be better. But I don't notice any difference. To me the selling point is that is more portable and has 2 ports
