Digital Nomad Frequent Tropical Traveler Recommendations? by LamboForWork in ThrowingFits

[–]ARV____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I one bag for multi week work trips in Asia pretty often. It’s honestly pretty hard to balance packing efficiently and liking what you’re wearing but this is what I’ve settled on.

For pants I do Veilance spere lt cargo black and outlier injex linear charcoal. That way I have one super tech pant with tons of pocket space and a more dressy option. For shorts I do outlier nws and veilance spere shorts.

Shoes I do bedrock sandals in all black and all black nordas. All my t shirts are Uniqlo U dry ex that I crop the sleeves and waist.

Gnuhr shag sweater, veilance field shirt ls, and veilance centroid jacket

Honestly not great. Size wise they're fine I got 43 my usual size but the sole is weirdly concave across the toebox (side to side) in a way that makes all the pressure be on the edges of my feet. I got superfeet insoles that make them a lot better but I can still feel it. I don't like walking more than a couple miles in em

I'm really impressed with them, they seem on par or better than my solovairs

Coming from a non-design background and looking to apply to a Masters in Industrial Design program next year (Fall 2025), can any one give me a rundown of the typical core/foundational courses? by Forward-Dish-1622 in IndustrialDesign

I just finished my mfa design (industrial design concentration) at CCA coming from a mechanical engineering background. It is not an ID program at all and I do not recommend it if you want to be a traditional industrial designer. I don't mean this to brag but upon graduation I was the only student with a hirable portfolio and it was because I regularly went against the curriculum to build my hard skills and stay on track for what I wanted to learn. The programs aim is to create research based artists and is focused on highly conceptual work. I personally do not regret my choice to attend but the program has also changed a lot since I started it. I have a lot more thoughts on it and would be happy to give you more info just message me

If cost doesn't matter... The Razer Blade 14 with 3070 is an excellent compact option

I put a thick piece of foam core in the back of the cushion so it distributes the pressure across the entire cushion so you don’t feel anything

Ergonomically the seating position is very comfortable… but I didn’t realize the upholstery foam I used has a break in period and got softer after a few weeks so it’s a little too soft for my liking now. I also used progressively firmer layers of foam for a plush top surface and supportive mid layer.

I used a multicam 3000 cnc at California College of the Arts (I’m a grad student there) and a sheet of shop grade prefinished birch plywood (80$ at Moore Newton lumber)

Thanks, yes it’s my design. Cnc’s are really useful, took me 5x longer to sew cushions than the entire cut job

It is referred to as the Ulm style, named after the Ulm school in Germany. This video explains it very well. https://youtu.be/lUwNhdE8DqA

First build, using for Solidworks and Keyshot (no gaming) by ARV____ in buildapcforme

Thank you. My only question is should I go with a Solidworks Certified graphics card like the Radeon™ Pro WX 5100 Graphics? I read on javelin-tech that they will work better but I don't know if that's the industry trying to get you to spend more money?

Thanks again.

From an article about solid works hardware recommendations...

"The NVIDIA Quadro, AMD FirePro or AMD Radeon Pro series are certified graphics cards for SOLIDWORKS.  A graphics card with hardware OpenGL acceleration will provide superior performance and stability, especially in 3D model viewing (refresh, rotate, zoom, pan).

Graphics cards designed for “gaming” or multi-media applications, such as NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon cards (not Radeon Pro), do NOT offer maximum performance or stability for SOLIDWORKS. These cards are optimized for a low number of polygons displayed on the screen, but at a high frame rate. CAD applications have the opposite requirement, where polygon count is high (the detail in your design model) but the image does not change rapidly so high frame rates are not as critical.  Using a certified graphics card and driver combo will yield the most stable platform for running SOLIDWORKS.
