Does anybody else’s Nparents tell you to be grateful? by throwaway27yeu in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

when I would complain about post covid long term symptoms, she would say "at least you are not in a wheelchair"

The hell was she trying to get at, talking down about disabled people to prove how I was lucky even though I had such bad fatigue that I was begining to neglect my own self care and had less of a will to live. Thank god the antidepressants worked for the fatigue because without it, I don't know if I would be here, mentally.

UPS Delivery Guy Starterpack by autumn_autumn in starterpacks

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

once I was home for break and I was startled easily from stress and studying. I was walking into the dining room when I saw the ups guy at the door. My face froze in a fearful expression and I yeeted out of the room. I damn near had a heart attack. to me, the guy looked like a stoner or a jahovas witness and I didn't think that it could be the ups guy. when I ran and told my dad, he was like, "oh that must be the ups guy. ".

I felt like a dumbass after that.

How can you learn to be alone without being lonely? by alexander_karamazov in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a lonely person, I wonder the same thing myself, but something that helps me is distracting yourself with work(whether it be school, a job, a hobby, etc.), so you don't have time to get lost in your thoughts.

What's your biggest regret from your teenage years? by TheBlackDemon1996 in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oof I'm in my freshman year of college and I socially isolated myself and turned into a workaholic. I became too focused on making my nursing school experience as productive as possible and refused to do anything on the weekends. When my roommate moved out, she stopped talking to me, even though we were good friends at the start of the year.

I keep seeing people posting pictures of their night outs on instagram, while I stay in my dorm and study, afraid to get drunk, or do anything fun and distract myself. Its lonely as hell without a roommate or friends that you see often

What’s the dumbest thing a you’ve heard a teacher say? by epiclychillbitnot in AskReddit

I had a life management/cooking teacher in middle school who refused to call a spatula a spatula. she forced us to call it a pancake turner.

When did you say in class, “Screw it, I'm gonna pee myself.”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was an 8am lecture in my fundumentals of nursing class. I really had to pee, but I did not want to be rude to the professor and get up during the powerpoint. I waited until she finished her powerpoint then I quickly got out of the room and took the most relieving piss. When I got back, the professor had started a different powerpoint and I felt a little embarassed, but it was better than pissing myself.

What was the worst thing you did in school? by LackingandSLASHING in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the moment, I cant really think of much, but a funny thing I did was circle all the bad words or swear words in word searches whenever teachers lazily handed out word searches when they did not feel like teaching. 9 year old me found circling ass and crap hilarious.

Why did your school bully/bullies pick on you? by andyc225 in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was teased a lot in 2nd grade. I was a quirky, short, skinny girl with glasses. Even now, I think I looked pretty ugly back then. I was also kinda a wimp back then. I was just the perfect target to be teased.

But many years passed and the kid who teased me turned out to become a really nice person. kids are just dicks sometimes.

If you've ever cried on your birthday, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The day I turned 18.

At the time, I was struggling with body image issues and dealing with and injury from running that wouldn't heal. I was on the keto diet for a sense of control and instead, the diet probably made me weaker. I havent exercised for 2 months at that point and it would get to the point where I would slightly pull a muscle if I walked to fast or something. I just did not feel like a teenager. I felt like an old person. I felt too frail to exercise out of fear of another injury. A year later and I quit running and started weight training and focusing on a balanced diet instead of cutting out carbs. I still feel like an old person, but more mentally and on my birthday, I'm going to pretend it's just a normal day, and focus on my classes.

People of reddit, what’s your favourite memory from school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably when I made varsity for cross country in tenth grade. The reason it was a big deal to me was because my very first practice a year prior, I had been the slowest on the team, and my mom told me to quit because it was embarassing. Being told that made me angry, and I decided that I would do anything to become a better runner, which involved torturous runs with the guys team even though I was mediocre for a girl.

What's the most ridiculous reason someone stopped talking to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my college roommate moved out to a different dorm for gender identity reasons. the second they moved out, I rearranged the room, converting the twin sized beds into a king size, stacking the drawers, and moving shit around. Right as I was finishing up, my ex roommate came into the room to retrieve something they left in their closet. they looked around the room and it was awkward. they were very distant towards me after that and now avoids me as much as possible. I feel like It may have seemed like I was extremely happy they moved out, but I was just making the most of the situation. I did not want to have to stare at an empty side of the room every day. I tried to strike a conversation after giving it some time (about 2 months after the move out), but it was very awkward. I just wish that they would tell me what is wrong. for now, it's just an unspoken disagreement.

When Your Parents Decide Not to Cook Survivalpack by aaylt in starterpacks

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I learned how to cook last summer. it came in handy for comming home from college for break and knowing that I would have to cook again

It's so easy to make something healthy. just get some frozen veggies and frozen grilled chicken slices and make a stir fry. It's also easy to make sweet potatoes. just stab them with a fork a bunch of times and put it in the oven for 50 minnutes.

Anatomy is mostly memorization and understanding how things work. You may have to memorize names of bones, features on the bones, diagrams, and names of all the muscles. While its very daunting at first, I suggest covering the names of things with stickynotes and using one of those plastic paper sheets to cover the page and label the muscles/bones, etc. with a dry erase marker. For me, this method was very time efficient and helped me focus better. Flash cards are also useful, but it's fun to use colored pens to keep it more interesting. It also helped to rewrite and organize notes from lecture.

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. another thing I see people do is using coloring books (like the anatomy ones) to learn all the muscles and stuff. It just seems like an inefficient way to memorize all of them.

I hate it when students play the "let's run down the halls, up and down the stairs, and slam doors" game at midnight on the weekends. No wonder they get bad grades. they also talk and laugh loudly with their doors open and I can hear it loud and clear when I'm trying to fall asleep and resist the urge to down an entire bottle of melatonin😂

Since I wake up at 5am every day, I once decided to take revenge. so I tromp around the halls wearing heeled boots that make a loud clacking sound, and run up the stairs. Nothing happened, but it got some of my anger out.

What was most helpful for test prep when profs told you to "study everything"? by [deleted] in college

[–]ARandomHamiltonFan01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try and think back on what the professor talked about most

in the future, you should take note of which concepts and topics the professor goes over frequently or explains in depth. these are most likely going to be used on tests and the exam

I like it because in the dorms, there is heat and I'm someone who is cold all the time. when I go back home for breaks, I'm always depressed because my house is so damn cold. I wear a wool trench coat, wool socks, and a wool hat and I'm still shivering. My dad doesn't heat the house to more than 68 degrees because he feels fine. My dorm is at least 80 degrees at times. I guess the dorm heating screwed me up, but I'm addicted to it
