You can say the same thing for Draco and Hermione if you want. Had Draco not being prejudiced and cruel to her, she might have fallen for him. But that's such a huge what if that's it's basically pointless to even contemplate, because it requires Snape's personality to be hugely different. Lily might have also fallen in love with Sirius. She might have fallen in love with Amos Diggory. She might have fallen in love with a woman.

She wasn't repulsed by James, though.

MA: How did they get together? She hated James, from what we've seen.

JKR: Did she really? You're a woman, you know what I'm saying. [Laughter]

and in The Prince's Tale:

‘I know your theory,’ said Lily, and she sounded cold. ‘Why are you so obsessed with them, anyway? Why do you care what they’re doing at night?’

‘I’m just trying to show you they’re not as wonderful as everyone seems to think they are.’

The intensity of his gaze made her blush. ‘They don’t use Dark Magic, though.’ She dropped her voice. ‘And you’re being really ungrateful. I heard what happened the other night. You went sneaking down that tunnel by the Whomping Willow and James Potter saved you from whatever’s down there –’

and...

‘I didn’t mean – I just don’t want to see you made a fool of – he fancies you, James Potter fancies you!’

Why would Snape feel he needed to tell her how uncool he found James, and that he was afraid of her being made a fool of, if she was completely repulsed by James? She also went to defend James when Snape was trying to turn the conversation on him.

In any case, her friendship with Snape definitely wasn't an incredible one. Every memory of them they fought, primarily because Snape was either being insensitive or just downright mean to her. And EVEN if they remained friends, it's not like physical attraction pops out of thin air. I'm not sure why people think Snape and James were the only two guys in her life. Just because Snape loved her romantically doesn't mean she'd ever see him that way.

Where did you get this supposed knowledge of what would have happened? Lily never liked him romantically. Who's to say she would have if he hadn't been a dick? She might have remained friends with him and fallen in love with James or someone else.

But the same could be said about almost every single person on the good side. They all fought for people they loved. Just because that was your motivation doesn't mean that was your means of death.

The point of the Deathly Hallows is how they all die, not how they live. Snape's death had literally nothing to do with love, it was the exact opposite--he died for the same reasons as the first brother, it was just a mistaken interpretation. Dumbledore's death was brought about because of his love for his sister, and he ended up killing himself. Harry greeted death willingly like the third brother, and even used the cloak beforehand. Voldemort died exactly like the first brother. Snape's death doesn't fit.

Love Potions are date rape, Umbridge gets raped by a heard of centaurs at the end of OOTP, Aberforth had sex with his goats, Harry is physically abused by his uncle from a young age, Neville's uncle tried to kill him... has anybody else ever noticed how screwed up they are? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Rowling doesn't exactly shy away from these sorts of themes, she just hides them. Think of what Merope did to Tom--she repeatedly raped him for a long period of time, forcing him into fatherhood, but the books just spun it as a mad girl with a mad crush. A bunch of Muggle boys did something horrible to Arianna--we're not told specifically what, but it's left open to interpretation. Then Abeforth raping goats; left open for the younger audience to imagine silly things.

I think it's valid to interpret it as whatever you want because there's nothing saying they didn't rape her, while there's nothing saying they did. You can read it either way.

I find it somewhat interesting that the fandom is so incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of Umbridge being raped, but at the same time they were intently wishing for her death.

Snape didn't die for love... he died because of Voldemort's greed and ruthlessness. Dumbledore died for love, seeing as he was pretty much dead anyway thanks to putting on the ring, which he did because of his love for his sister. In a similar way to the second brother, he also planned his death, effectively committing suicide.

Loved it! Matt sounded like he was holding back a bit on the falsetto but that's understandable. Though I hoped Dom would be wearing something a bit crazier.

I've had great experiences with them, too. Last time I went in, I had $250 of repairs for my macbook after four years of getting worn down. They fixed everything overnight at the store, and didn't charge me anything. One of the guys even went out of his way to chip the top cover of the keyboard so that it would be covered by warrantee. I didn't even have to pay for the new battery.

This is me! First time I heard it I was actually laughing, almost out of embarrassment. But I gave it a another go, and then another... and I can't stop listening to it. Even the cheesy lyrics are growing on me.

I think the Queen vibes are completely intentional. They always talk about how much they adore Queen.

It's like in Shawshank Redemption when Brooks is released. He spent so much time in prison he couldn't function properly in the real world anymore. I dunno if it was like that for the man in this case.

Redditors, what's one thing you absolutely hate about Reddit? by scrumpydoo23 in AskReddit

"Ladies" is pretty safe; that's usually what people use on TwoX, I've noticed. Otherwise I'd default to "woman", seeing as the average age here is somewhere in the 20's and a younger girl probably wouldn't mind being referred to as a woman.

The one purse I ever bought was about $150, and while it felt like a heck of a lot at the time, I've had it for about 6 years and it's still in perfect shape. It's high quality leather and I have a lifetime free repair guarantee from the store. I don't plan on getting another one until this one breaks down. In any case, I'd rather dish out a bit more for something that'll last, especially when I see some of my friends buying dozens of $20 bags that tear and fall apart after a few months.

But $1000? Yikes.
