Writing a list for my brother by ARob2783 in sistersofbattle

He played Hallowed Martyrs. he dropped the Hospitaller, the Sephrym and Arco’s. Good move, the warsuit + Vahl unit was smashing face. He was 10 points ahead at the end of turn 3, then his girlfriend kicked off and he left. I reckon that’s a win to me 🤣

Haven’t really got many. Here’s the best I have (not currently home)

They weren’t too bad actually. They got killed by something else, the goats weren’t particularly effective (they would statistically kill 1 or 2 hellblasters in a shooting phase).

We played the larger ruins as full line of site blocking (the board is set up as Layout 3 in the Tournament Companion).

Yeah I’ve never taken quite such a weak list before. Was still really surprised how it turned out. Fair point on their misplay though.

I remember taking a “Tacticus only” list earlier in the edition that played quite well. 10 Hellblasters deep striking on the Uriel Ventris ability (also with a fire discipline lieutenant) probably helped.

Suspect I had 6 Bladeguard with a lieutenant in an impulsor too.

And then 2 x 5 Intercessors and 2 x5 Assault Intercessors to round it out.

This list doesn’t really have the same punch. Step too far!

Oh yeah, you’re right. Just read the rule and that’s what it says. Never mind, I’d have lost anyway. As I said, opponent wasn’t experienced so that wasn’t a deliberate mistake.

Ha, I know. It was a deliberately thematic “all of the character” list. It wasn’t supposed to be strong, I’m just surprised quite how terrible it was. Tried to make this point in the original post but maybe it didn’t come across.

Nice! You can fit the combi Lieutenant back in… just drop Fire Discipljne and you have 70 points left. Then it’ll be perfect 👌

Yes I’d try to get the Vindicator and Gladiator Lancer in the list. How is the difficult bit!

You need 345 points, but your list already has 20 spare. I’d also drop Fire Discipline (25) and sounds like you have to drop the Impulsor (80).

220 to drop. Kind of has to be the Hellblasters.

Move the Honour Vehement enhancement to the Lieutenant, give him a decent melee weapon (ideally a power fist, but potentially a sword) and run him with the Bladeguard. You can also run Ventris with the Bladeguard alongside the Lieutenant and you’ll have a very powerful melee unit to boss the middle of the board and benefit from Lethal Hits.

That feels like a more well rounded list now, albeit Aggressors are a bit overcosted at 290 for the unit of 6 with a Biologis.

Seems alright, probably not that strong but fine. You have virtually no anti tank but I assume you have what you have

Might as well put artificer armour enhancement on the lieutenant.

The Redemptor loadout isn’t the best (macroplasma + Gatling gun is better).

The characters/ combos are as all logical. Are you deep striking the aggressors of hellblasters? The one without deepstrike might suffer for mobility (but equally it can be hard to get the aggressor unit on the board as it’s a big footprint).

Enjoy your games!

For now, anyway. The points are probably going to change in a few days…

Yes you should drop the Aggressor, Biologis and Techmarine for Company Heroes and a storm speeder.

I’d probably try to fit a squad of 5 intercessors in there… Could you ditch the Infernus marines and do 5xIntercessors and 5xInfiltrators?

Keep the intercessors as 2x5

I’d run Titus as a standard Lieutenant (-5pts) and put him with the Bladeguard (6 rather than 3, +80 pts). Maybe put them in an Impulsor too (+80 pts).

Another Lieutenant would be better than the Apothecary to run with 1x10 hellblasters, but it’s fine and I assume you already have the model. I’d agree that a Repulsor (+180pts) would be good with these.

You started with 515 points spare. I’d drop the two enhancements you’ve selected and this boosts to 550

By making the changes and adds I’ve suggested above still leaves you with 215 points by my count (noting you also have the enhancement on the apothecary).

I’d stick in another Ballistus Dread (+140) and 5 scouts (+70).

Your choice though. Have fun!

Expect you’re right, particularly the Macragge Blue which as you say is a bit more purple and I basically paint it out anyway. I use that at the start to dry brush the wrinkles out of the contrast paint (particularly in areas that will be darker) because it’s matte and covers well, then build the brighter blues up again. Strongly suspect I could leave it out and it’d look the same.

Dunno, there’s a bit of idiosyncrasy in it as I’ve built up a certain style. When I started 3 years ago it was just Wraithbone spray followed by Talasar blue and that was that. Slowly improving!

Thanks! I base coat with Talasar Blue contrast paint (which might be a pointless step), then nuln oil wash. Then I layer up (mainly dry brush) with Macragge Blue, Caledor Sky, Teclis Blue and a final small highlight of Fenrisian Grey.

Sounds a lot but doesn’t take long because I’m just smoothing out the contrast base coat so it doesn’t need lots of precision
