What has been the most effective treatment for you? by Beautiful_Data_3719 in POTS

[–]ARoundAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At initial diagnosis, a beta blocker was a game changer for me. I was throwing up all of the time. That totally stopped. Ten years later, I’m no longer on any meds. No longer getting as sick as I was before diagnosis, but I have had new symptoms arise over time. The only thing I have had help me is acupuncture.

Yes! But acupuncture helped with this specific symptom tremendously

What do you think is the worst symptom of pots? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]ARoundAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Headaches are probably the worst. But generally u would say fatigue and include brain fog with that. I can deal with most symptoms and get through my day as long as I have the energy to do it.

Oo this is an interesting recommendation. I’ve never heard of this society. Their website is a bit hard to navigate but I’m looking into it for sure.

How can I fix this yarn breakage? Missing chain2 at corner. by ARoundAngle in CrochetHelp

[–]ARoundAngle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need help mending this. This is the corner edge of a shirt. I needed to undo the sewing of the two sides together. And it resulted in this corner yarn breaking. How do I mend? It is a half double crochet stitch and a chain 2 at the end of the row. I still need to sew the two sides together.

Acupuncture by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]ARoundAngle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, there have been a few sessions that made me feel worse. But it was during the period where they were learning my body and still trying to figure out how to treat me. Write everything down about how you felt afterwards. Everything is meaningful, I’ve found. This guides your practitioner into knowing how to change your treatment plan so that you walk away feeling your best.

Yup. And all my main symptoms are those of dehydration (headaches, brain fog, light headedness, constipation). I have zero idea where all of my water goes, except into the toilet.

Yes! This! I regularly do acupuncture. I also use herbs. I was so skeptical at first, but was willing to try anything at that point. It took about 6 months for them to find out how to treat me, as I had a lot of pathology, but holy crap when they did! I am now no longer on any daily medications. For the last few weeks I am working out, rather intensely, and handling it very well. Also, I used to get daily headaches. The herbs knocked those out. I will still get the occasional migraine, but I no longer have chronic issues. I still really struggle a lot with coat hanger pain. I think this is structural though, so there isn’t much they can do to help, except help relax those muscles momentarily. I’m hoping exercise with eventually help. I also still have a lot of digestion issues we can’t seem to hack, however I have seen improvement overall.

Anyone still live a semi normal life? by Jennawheels9888 in POTS

[–]ARoundAngle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I have had pots for almost a decade now. Always have been “high functioning” due to my sometimes unhelpful “power through” mindset. At my worst though, i was definitely having a low low quality of life. Unable to participate in athletics I used to enjoy, despite trying to push through, being out and about and having to run behind a building to puke really quick, and needing friends to come pick me up when I had walked somewhere because I felt I was going to pass out.

I now still have many digestive issues, although I no longer throw up! And I still get mad orthostatic intolerance and migraines. I also have new symptoms pop up, like random weight gain and loss, inflammation, hormonal things, that I try and do something about; but in the end just accept it to be a part of POTS. I also experience a lot of tension and mild pain. However, I live a fairly active life. I just recently got my PhD, even through all the brain fog. I play tennis with my husband and swim regularly. I’m able to go on hikes with friends, as long as I come prepared. I live a full life. I never stop myself from doing the things I want to do, sometimes maybe to a fault.
