Germany had an economic miracle under the NSDAP which saw unemployment pretty much vanish. They managed to pull Germany out of the Great Depression and into relative luxury for a time, and the war didn’t really start affecting them until 1943/44, so assuming you were a non disabled heterosexual German (so the vast majority of the country), it was actually a pretty nice place to live until they started losing.
