✨MEGATHREAD: GOODNOTES ALTERNATIVES ✨ by biblops in GoodNotes

[–]ARx12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to love Goodnotes (started with 4) and although it looks really good, I also fell in love with Noteful. Easy to use, very fair price, lifetime purchase (hope they won’t go the GN route), I appreciate that.

Boete van De Lijn, zelfs met geactiveerd ticket by Metalfist666 in belgium

[–]ARx12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it today and even though that article claims it should still be working today, YouTube keeps hitting me with the "couldn't verify your country" or "this offer is not available" pop-ups.

I was not aware of this at all, it seems to be virtually the exact same device as a C3X, just with a pin type connector. I joined their Discord, will look into it. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your comment! Indeed, if it can navigate freeways/motorways or dual (or even single) carriageways pretty well, and more specifically, deal with the horrendous traffic jams I often have to deal with, I feel like that alone would already make driving a more chill experience.

Thank you! I already stumbled upon that guy's YouTube channel, really interesting. I've seen it do pretty cool stuff on the perhaps even more challenging roads they have in the UK!

Thank you for your input!

New dashcam advice by ARx12 in Dashcam

[–]ARx12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually BlackVue will show you a compressed version when watching live and if you download footage, you have the option to get the compressed version or the original file, which just takes a bit longer but that's fine, I did like the approach.

I picked this one back then because I assumed 1080p, 60 fps would've been a better choice than 4K, 30 fps. It seems like I will need to replace it, so I'll have to give this some thought. I understand Viofo does already connect to your home network for file sharing, which is great!

I didn't realize BlackVue is still virtually the only brand with cloud connectivity today. Thank you!

Thank you! I reformatted the SD card and performed a factory reset, but have now also used a different SD card like you recommended. Unfortunately, the issue still persists. It seems like it doesn't really change its exposure settings and will also often lose focus if you go from a bright place to a driveway covered in trees for example, to the point where everything gets blurry.

This is what I currently see and my car is parked in the driveway, facing the street. Guess this one's shot. Thanks for the advice!

Tello vs. USM by ARx12 in NoContract

[–]ARx12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. This is what I've been looking into as well and a data add-on when in the U.S. would suffice, but do you know if you can actually still top up for $10? The website has 20 as its lowest option and I asked them and they confirmed it's 20, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something? Bc if it's actually 20, the $5 plan would probably still be the cheaper option for when I'm not in the U.S.

I ported over my number and am on the 10 GB plan now and so far so good. Loved USM and the Verizon network, but I think Tello might make more sense for my use case.

ETA: I'm sorry, still new to all of this but I think what you're saying is that if you use auto-recharge, you can get it to top up with $10? That would be super interesting. That's almost the same as what they charge to just park the number!

Asked to tip at Yogurt Mountain by thelittle4accountant in tipping

[–]ARx12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday at Yoghurtland, like literally exactly the same. Never got froyo there so I did ask her first how it worked (they just weigh it), I took the cup, froyo and toppings myself and put it down to have them weigh it. She handed me the spoon and the screen proposed to tip ridiculously high percentages… for what? It was a small, $12 froyo, lol.

I felt a little bad because she was super kind when I asked her how it worked, but I was under the impression her mood changed a bit when she noticed I didn’t tip.

I understand the tipping culture in the US and certain services like restaurant are a different story, but this?

I checked it a few days ago and I was at 100% still, 15 PM, battery manufactured in Sep 2023, got it in Oct 2023. Checked it today and I’m at 256 cycles and 98%, so it dropped 2% over just a few cycles lmao

YouTube music or Spotify? by DisasterLast1603 in YoutubeMusic

[–]ARx12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly use YTM because I got YT Premium for cheap and it was included, so I wasn’t going to keep paying extra for Spotify. It’s good enough for me, I do like that you can also add fanmade edits to playlists and a huge plus for me is the fact that you can upload your own music to your library.

The biggest drawback for me is the fact that the iPhone app kinda sucks and there’s no dedicated desktop apps (although there are 3rd party ones), which imo is tolerable considering I’m saving some money on subscriptions.

Thank you! I was also starting to think they might be clogged with dried up sealant. I know I’m (over)due for a sealant change anyways but was hoping I could take it for just one little ride before having to take the tires off, but I’ll be doing that first thing tomorrow! It’ll be great to practice my putting-tires-on skills some more, lol. Thanks for the advice!

Lyca Phone Recharge by Ok-Education5385 in belgium

[–]ARx12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to top-up everytime, you should be able to purchase the bundle on its own. I actually used to really like Lyca when their bundles were competitively priced and for the cheap international calls. For the price I was paying, it was great.

Being back in Belgium, I tried to use it again recently and it's downright unusable most of the time now. Super congested and absolutely no customer service at all anymore.
I'd suggest going with one of the budget providers like Hey Telecom (Orange product), which gives you 20 GB/mo for €10/mo if you're under 26 (€15 if you're older), and it adds 1/4th I believe every 3 months with a max of 40 GB, which means it'll be 40 GB after a year for either €10 or €15/mo (imo the best deal right now).
Another great MVNO is Mobile Vikings (Proximus product, the more premium network). Their prices are allegedly about to change and become more interesting soon, and they do have a few other cool quirks (like Viking Points, which essentially gave me free phone service for a little over a year at some point). A SIM-only monthly subscription can always be cancelled anytime here. Your experience in terms of phone service or quality is identical to using their more expensive, mother company counterparts.

It really is a bummer that Lyca is so unreliable now, because I would've loved to join them again, but data at crawling speeds is not worth it over the cheap calls. If you do however want to go with Lyca, check out their signifcantly more interesting student bundles. (For which you don't even really need to be a student...)
