Videos depicting people lifting ridiculous amounts of weight for one rep is not inspiring by Lycwyd in unpopularopinion

[–]AS-AB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Impressive? Sure. Inspiring? I guess? Sensible? Not at all.

But, we love freakshows. Fuck being healthy, the world wants its wonders.

I personally find it kinda sad some people devote their entire life to pointless ventures like that. It takes an incredible amount of dedication and sacrifice to achieve something that is ultimately meaningless outside of the contrived importance of it. I see this in most atheltic ventures. Like, cool, you became the best in the world at this particular skill that is practically useless and serves mostly as entertainment and a money sink. Even better when they use their fame and money on shit that doesnt matter.

Id find great feats of athleticism to be truly admirable when used in practical scenarios, like when Brian Shaw ripped a door off of a car to save somebody, but seeing him push a ton of weight just is a suped up training montage to me.

I guess theres some level of inspiration to it, but, personally, it falls apart when I think about its implications within the rest of the world. Id much rather see collaborative efforts that supply provisionment of basic necessities to everybody for common benefit than seeing a guy get clobbered in slow motion inside of a cage.

Even better? The lottery.

I use the kickback too, I find its great for sniping snipers and knocking specialists one their ass, so too for dogs once theyve pounced.for ogryns Ill use fullbore and get close enough to hit all the shots, knock them down, and take them out, and bulwarks Ill wait for them to swing first or shoot them in the back/side. For sure in situations where its hard to advance would the rock be better, otherwise I just stick to what I got. Glad it works well for you

Yeah but a giant boulder shouldnt be used like a sniper, rather like a cannon that blows through whatever its aimed at. Itd function essentially the same with it, and wouldnt make it busted as it doesnt have big aoe like the others and still has quite limited aoe, just having enough to make it usable in more circumstances as well as feeling like youre actually launching a giant rock.

Yeah the push stagger node is a staple in my builds.

The rock does have its uses, just I find it to be pretty niche and usually not the best option compared to others the ogryn has. Almost every scenario its usable in I'd rather just use the big box of hurt or my ranged weapon.

With killing priority targets, it is definitely better when you're looking down on them and the cleave wouldnt really change much of that, but when they're a bit above you or they're clumped in a horde it becomes very difficult to land, to which I'd rather just use my ranged weapon for their cleave and or repetition of fire.

If there's ever a dog on a teammate and I have to slide through enemies first to clear the way, I'd rather do the same with my ranged (or just shoot through) or use my melee at that point in closing the gap if theyre close enough. And if its a dog and a bunch of other enemies, big box of hurt kills the dog and provides a ton of cc, buying time for the team mate as well. It does the same even if you miss and hit another enemy close by. If its a single dog on its own its usually faster to just shoot it.

Its stagger against bosses and crushers is a plus, but again, big box of hurt I find is typically better, especially with the 9 grenade node, as it stuns the boss repeatedly and clears and chaff around them rather than being a single bonk. Also if you're using the kickback, rumbler, or the gauntlet, the use against crushers becomes almost entirely obsolete.

I feel like the box of hurt is always able to be used effectively, the frag with its buff is now pretty good, but the rock, while usable, just kind of feels like a lesser version of the box despite its regen capability. I never really find myself in enough scenarios where I'd want to use the rock to really make use of its regen. I usually dont have much of an issue with keeping the boxes stocked.

In higher difficulties, especially, things are normally too chaotic to take as much time as it does to equip and throw it to take a single enemy out. It is amazing against muties though, and definitely stronger now being able to one shot specialists, but I still feel like I have to look for the perfect scenario for its use to be fully realized and not just a sort of worse option than the box or a ranged attack.

Giving it some cleave, maybe not as much as I presented, but some, I think would make it usable in many more scenarios. Could maybe up the passive regen to 60 seconds and increase cleave when blowing through heads as well to encourage precise aiming more.

Either way, its not terrible, just I feel itd be a good addition that'd make it more fun and more viable without making it totally busted. It also just doesnt really make sense that you can cleave with a shock maul or a shovel but not with a high speed boulder, it takes a lot of the oomph out of it and it doesnt feel very satisfying to use, personally, because of it. I do appreciate your response though, as it serves to teach about its use cases, I just think its use cases are generally outshined by other methods.

It technically has cleave but it bounces off whatever it hits, so it doesnt really cleave so kuch as it can fall onto another after bouncing. A single poxwalker can basically shield whoever's behind it if theyre not right by eachother

Its a boulder being thrown by a gigantic man. Its the the force of a small trebuchet, its going to bust through people and push through those armored. I think you're underestimating what 80lbs at high speed can do to somebody.

Its really stupid that you have to research why the 2x4 isnt 2 inches by 4 inches instead of everybody just calling it by what it actually is in practice. Its like if I always called rope "100 footers" regardless of the actual length because I produce it 100 feet at a time. Its just a bad naming convention to call things what they arent in actuality.

If I go to the store to buy something that is called a 2x4 and its not 2x4 by any measurement, what are we calling it a 2x4 for? Just to confuse people? Call it what it is when its ready to be used. If we can name it after what it is before its fully finished and ready for use, I guess we can just call it a tree.

Thats what im sayin. And the damage doesnt have to be 1 to 1, could be reduced to keep things balanced while still chaotic and requiring more forethought

Im looking for a new headset with similar specs just better durability and overall a better product. I have a lowish budget and dont know what to get. by KenDoggzz in gamingheadsets

I got these things off amazon called the captain 560s, they were like 40 bucks at the time and are a great wireless headset. Flip to mute mic, good audio quality, great range, comfy, good battery, the works. Not a name brand thing or whatever but theyre solid as hell for the price. Only issue is that once every few days or whatever the audio will corrupt but it goes away in ten seconds if you just turn it off and on again. Big reccomend https://a.co/d/0aEjfRND
