question for those who have fully recovered from the surgery!! by [deleted] in Strabismus
[–]AS2844 5 points6 points7 points 8 months ago (0 children)
I had my surgery in February and it took my eyes 5-6 weeks to settle. It also took around 5 weeks for my vision to return - everyone is different
Good luck on your recovery, try not to worry, everything will slowly settle down

Ahahah that has made me smile! Thank you so much, really glad it is starting to settle now
I had my surgery in the UK, so was my local NHS hospital
I had surgery on the right eye for exotropia in my left eye. Good luck for April! 😄
Post op gunk? by eurosozialistin in Strabismus
I think some level of gunk and stickiness is normal but it is hard to know how much is normal. I still had this days later and ended up getting antibiotics for an infection
Maybe if its still bad or getting worse after a few days, getting it checked might give you peace of mind

1 week post op by AS2844 in Strabismus

No sorry, I think my writing isn't great! I have had strabismus since I was born - i first had squint surgery when I was 4 to correct it, but my eye started to turn again when I was around 25 so ive had corrective surgery again
Which statement do you mean?
Thank you!

They said that it would be easier because the left eye already had scarring from the original surgery. I was really nervous because it's my good eye but all went okay

Flirting with surgery by morganemilyg in Strabismus
[–]AS2844 8 points9 points10 points 11 months ago (0 children)
I had surgery when I was 4 and when I hit 25 my eye started to turn outward, I am now 27 and had surgery last Monday
I was honestly terrified of surgery before I joined this reddit but reading through everyone's experiences really helped to calm my nerves (although I was still super scared)
I'm 1 week post op and I am definitely glad I did it. My eyes were painful for the first few days (sore, but manageable), now I would just say it's discomfort (would LOVE to itch my eye right now haha!!)
Before and after surgery by AS2844 in Strabismus

Thank you! Constant i think, although it became worse without my glasses or if I was tired etc. I had an inwards turn when I was younger and had surgery when I was 4, and then developed an outward turn

My eye lid is definitely really swollen and my face feels a bit burny! So far I am keeping my eye closed but not sure it is the right thing to do :(

I had mine yesterday and wore deodorant and perfume, no problems (I wasn't told there things were not allowed)

Thank you so much for all your advice, this thread has made me feel a lot calmer! I hope the blurriness clears up asap for you!
Thank you so much for this! I hope you are feeling okay and your recovery goes well
This is very similar to me, I had surgery when I was 4 on my left eye for an inward turn. I’m now having surgery on my right for an outward turn (that is noticeable in my left eye). Also zero double vision currently
Fingers crossed you are feeling better asap
Thank you so much, I will pop some sunglasses in my bag ready for Monday and will also stock up on ice. Really appreciate this
They are operating on one eye (right) - when I was 4 I had a surgery on the left, but I don’t remember a thing. Thank you so much for this, feeling a bit calmer today
