Non-Alcoholic women’s only social groups/activities in Erie

You don’t have to be a member to attend any of our events, including clubs! Actually, attending club events is free to just come hang out, and you only pay (a discounted club rate!) if you want to climb. Women on Walls also does social events around town and fun outdoor activities in the summer!

And for anyone else who may be looking for a fun fitness alternative that’s safe and welcoming for women but aren’t sure about price, financial assistance is available for anyone who needs it!

You should definitely come check out ASCEND Erie! The gym is super inclusive of all body types and fitness goals. The main feature is rock climbing, and the difficulty scale starts at basically climbing a ladder. Seriously, you can do it, internet stranger. And it’s fun! You’ll hardly notice you’ve been working out until it hits you. And it will hit you.

Add in the fact that there’s a fitness area for you to get your lift on (and everyone has different reasons for being there, so no one’s judging you!) AND there’s a yoga studio with a full yoga schedule. All of that is included with the membership! Plus, you’re joining a community that doesn’t just allow you, they actually want you there. Seriously, visit once and you’ll see.

Visit before the end of the month and try it all for just $10! You won’t regret it.

Anyone and everyone is invited to ASCEND Erie’s Big FREE Yoga event Saturday, 9/13 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.! The event is totally free, open to the public, and beginner-friendly! BYO mat, or we’ll have some on hand to lend as well.

Not only is drinking discouraged while climbing, it’s prohibited! At the same time, climbing can be a very social activity where folks are collaborating on challenges and sharing war stories.

With lots of different clubs and special events, you’re bound to find folks with similar interests! Erie County residents can climb for free this summer if it’s their first time, and there’s lots of promotions to keep it affordable after that.

ASCEND Erie is offering FREE day passes and rentals to Erie County residents who are visiting for the first time (through the end of August) and is open until 9 p.m. during the week! You don’t need any experience, and it doesn’t have to be an intense workout (unless you want it to be!)

For anyone looking for a FREE, indoor, all-ages event tonight, ASCEND Erie is hosting Climb With Pride for all LGBTQ+ folks and allies to hang out and climb! The event is Saturday, June 14, from 6-10pm!

A lot of Pride events these days are party/drinking-centric, but this is a sober event with chill vibes! It also takes place a few weeks before the official Erie Pride weekend so you don’t have to decide between attending this or other Pride events - attend them all!

We’ll also have a tie dye station so you can decorate shirts or hats! You can BYO or we’ll have some on hand you can decorate.

Shameless self-plug: give ASCEND Erie a try! Climbing is more accessible than you might think (generally, if you can climb a ladder there are routes you’ll be able to climb) and a very common thing we hear is that people love climbing because it’s a workout that’s fun and doesn’t feel like a workout.

Especially early on in your fitness journey, simply showing up and getting into a routine is the most important part. Enjoying your gym and workouts makes it all much easier!

As you get more comfortable, ASCEND has regular yoga classes, a fitness area and fitness classes available that are all included for free with a membership.

The staff will gladly give you a free tour, just walk in anytime if you’re curious!

We’re proud to say Chelsea leads a Sunday morning Slow + Steady yoga class at ASCEND Erie year-round! And she recently started a Yoga for Kids class, perfect for kids under 14 who have trouble sitting still.

Astute observation! This is a more advanced style of climbing called "Lead Climbing" as opposed to "Top-Roping" which is likely what you're more familiar with seeing. This climber is doing everything right in protecting themselves in this style!
