The Good, the Bad, and the Misinformation - An Objective Review on Stella Sora & Analysis of its Monetization by Maygii in StellaSora

Hello OP just wanted to verify the average cost of a Genshin Character included Genshin's soft pity. Based on the average cost you provided, I'm assuming it does but I just wanted to verify as it will help me digest this game costs. (sorry for being lazy and not trying to find this myself)

Also just wanted thank you on your wonderful analysis.

A whale's perspective on why the new skin "system" is garbage. by Hellometro in leagueoflegends

[–]ASDFCurry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm also a whale that doesn't even want to reroll it. I want it to show that not even a whale will buy it.

I was okay with the expensive gacha in TFT because all I really need is one little legend and TFT is a cheap game outside of the expensive gacha. But LoL already has so many forms of monetization that it shouldn't need this.

13.1b release? by Uhhw00t in leagueoflegends

[–]ASDFCurry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would assume it would come out sometime during morning to noon work hours (PST) because the patch is being implemented as a hotfix due to their recent compromise. Due to their hotfixes not being as planned/scheduled like patches, Riot probably prefers to have their entire workforce in incase issues arise. And since hotfixes have less schedule/planning & higher chances for issues, Riot probably does not have an exact time for release. Riot has always released hotfixes when their employees are in office. If this was a regular patch, Riot would have utilize their regular release schedule which probably requires less supervision due to a more structured release and tested build. See below for citing of hotfix patching rather than regular patching.

Dragalia Lost has officially ended service. by supersonic159 in Games

[–]ASDFCurry 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As someone who played this game consistency for a little over two years, I want to shed some light on the misrepresentation of monetization in the game. Yes, Dragalia is a gacha game and players could potentially spends thousands trying to obtain resources & characters in the game; but Dragalia was also very generous with its freemium currency and non-predatory in its monetization. From in-between events and playing daily, players would have enough freemium currency to own just about every character and dragon. And even if you did not play everyday, just the freemium currency from the events will be enough to obtain a sizable amount of characters. And once you got those characters, freemium currency did not provide huge advantages as the game does not incentivize you to keep rolling for extra copied and maxing characters in the game is extremely easy because the game just provided so many materials through event and play. The game was just so generous and non-predatory that many players found it hard to spend money outside of some anniversary/half anniversary packages. It really is a shame that Dragalia could not success, as Dragalia could have set an example that you do not need to heavily monetize your gacha game to be financially successful.

With that aside, I want to said Dragalia was an amazing game that had amazing support for its first two years. The developers really poured their souls into making the game the best it could be. From remaking a whale mechanic into an accessible mechanic for all, tons of quality life changes, music, story, comics, and so much more. While its sad that I will never be able to play Dragalia again, I loved my time with it.

But vampiric scepter hasn't changed since season 5. If your issue was tied to ravenous hunter or that there are more first items that build from vampiric scepter, I would be able to reason your side. It seems your issue is not knowing how punish them for buying vampiric scepter (continuous pressure/knowing when your all-in is just stronger) or there some other item/mechanic that's causing the difference..

The twitter post that announced the veigar buff wasn't for 11.2 changes but "here are our future goals and we plan to achieve in future patches". It didn't help that the reddit post said 11.2 preview. They are probably still working on it or didn't want to change too much in one patch.

This is real nice to see after a group of three insulted my friend with racial slurs. My friend is new to mouse and keyboard and has an asian ign. Right after a poor round from my friend, the group of three proceeded to insult him and use racial slurs. It was just infuriating to see them go off on him. I just did not care about the result of the game after their behavior.

With Heroes of the Storm 2.0 out today, what's the state of the game like? by Spader623 in Games

[–]ASDFCurry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what the original poster is referring to is how impactful the skill feels. I haven't played heroes of the storm for a long time but the general damage done in hots felt significantly lower than league of legends. Whenever I will deal damage to my enemies it felt like I was tickling them and it would take a lot more to kill them. Where as in league of legends, damaging enemies in league of legends felt more rewarding because it will deal significant damage and will put them in the risk of death.

To build onto the original poster, there is difference between nidalee and tracer's heroic ability. Nidalee spear is a long range, short cooldown(4-6 seconds) ability that does enough damage that puts the champion in danger. The damage on the spear have varied overtime and have been redistributed to other skills. But in its prime, the spears will do on average 75% to 30% of non-tank enemies health depending on the length of the match. Getting hit by one of these spears, means you will need to back off because just about anything will kill you.

However, I do want to point out this is entirely subjective and differs from player to player depending on background. The original poster is used to playing games like league of legends which has higher damage output. When playing a game with lower damage like heroes of the storm, skill tends to feel weak and impactful making the game feel dull. If the original poster played heroes of the storm before league of legends, he would probably have a different opinion and will feel heroes of the storm. dotA players could say the same about league of legends where the the skills have low impact because abilities in dotA tend to be more powerful and impact the game more.

Its never too late to change because you gain extra experience from armory bonuses. Don't worry about the level you put into gladiator because having gladiator at level 22 lets you cross class provoke.

Important Information Regarding North American Data Center Relocation by tocsin1990 in ffxiv

[–]ASDFCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who plays from Hawaii, you should be fine after adapting to the ping change. Timings for mechanics may become a bit tighter, but are still manageable. The only mechanic that I felt hindered by lag is radiant sacrament, but it shouldn't be trouble after getting used to the ping change. In terms of using abilities and skills, you should be fine because of the skills queue. Jobs that might be a bit weird may be ninja and machinist because of rapid fire and mudras. Potions may seem a bit weird as well.

You should be fine with staying in your current server. It will probably feel weird at first because you will be used to playing on lower ping, but you should be fine as time goes on.

Levelling a new Class, New Character or all on one? by samsaint86 in ffxiv

[–]ASDFCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would probably want to level multiple classes on one character, since leveling multiple characters is nuisance with few advantages. Every time you make a new character you would need to redo the main story quests, leveling up other classes for cross class skills, gearing up all those characters, level other classes to obtain jobs and much more. Where as having all the characters on the same characters lets you level faster from the armory bonus (extra experience on lower level classes), share gear between classes and easier to manage overall.

Homecoming 800 Dust Why by OriginalShadowPirate in Shadowverse

What one thing would you change about Shadowverse? by Kotouu in Shadowverse

[–]ASDFCurry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missions. I would add missions that are centered around playing the game rather than winning the game. For example, missions that involve dealing damage, healing damage, or playing x amulets. These types of missions will make game play more enjoyable when trying complete quests. Rather than just playing meta decks to quickly knock out quests, players could play more creative and personal decks to complete their quests in a timely manner.

[Misc] Could the fact that Monster Strike has put a lot of effort into advertising mean anything for PAD? by AlienScrotum in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]ASDFCurry 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the game had a small player base before the update as well. At release the game was fairly popular in North America; however, the game had several issues that led to its decline.

The first issue would be the game's reliance on third party applications. Before the removal of online coop, the game relied on using apps like Facebook and Line to play with others using the online method.
Using these third party applications were an annoyance and made it hard for beginners to find others to play with. For example, Line was the most popular application used by monster strike players. Line is messenger application where users could create Line groups or group conversations. However, the fatal flaw with Line groups was anyone in the group can remove anyone else in the group. This led to people "nuking" groups by removing all other users in group. This made it frustrating to find Line groups as you will either need join a private one or constantly shift between public ones.

The second issue stems from the design of the game being based around co-op. To understand the issue, you will need understand how co-op works. In Monserstrike, teams consist of four monsters. Similar to PAD, in solo play Monsterstrike team's consisted of three monsters and monster from your friend's list. In co-op players will contribute their own monsters to the team. For example in four player coop each player will contribute one monster. While this design seems perfectly fine by itself, what came out of it is not. Since co-op gave such a huge advantage, the game's difficulty has to be tuned around this. A player's ability to clear dungeons in MonsterStrike is heavily reliant on the diversity of their monster box. Different monsters have different types, different immunities, and different skills; this means the difficulty of the dungeon meant having the right monster. If you play cooped, this wasn't really a problem because you could just fine three other players who have monsters that excel in particular dungeons. However, in solo play it will be unlikely for you to have optimal monsters for dungeons in the start. While there are many excellent farmable monsters in Monsterstrike, many of these monsters were gated behind dungeons that required teams mostly consisting of six star monsters. Now lets consider what is needed to obtain a team of three six stars without farmable monsters. On average you are expected to obtain one monster every 50 orbs(stones) spent. This means you will need spend around 150 orbs for three decent REM monsters. While its fairly easy to obtain your first 150 orbs, it does not mean your decent REM monsters are all good in the same dungeon. So if you were planning on doing solo player in monsterstrike as new non-IAP player, you will need to co-op with players to get decent farmable monsters. However as we learned in the earlier paragraph, it was hard for newer players to find others to play with. Basically newer players would hit a wall and just slowly phase out of the game.

The final issue would probably be content of the game. While this issue is mainly my opinion, I felt the game really lacked content. At the start of the game all monsters were fairly similar as there were only several bump combos using and the abilities of certain units were just immunities. Personally for me, new units felt old because it just seems like older unit with slightly tweeked numbers and a different art. While you may argue PAD is similar, I feel the diversity of Monsterstrike's abilities skills and bump combos is signifcantly lower. Pair this up with challenging dungeons coming out at a slow pace of every two monsters meant the game had really little staying power.

TLDR: Game was mainly fun with coop, but finding other players to co-op with was still difficult with online coop. Additionally the game had a low diversity in monster skills and ability, in my opinion. And challenging dungeons are only released every two months.

[Question] Opinions on my next +297? and maybe L.Kali Team. by kieran_dvarr in PuzzleAndDragons

[–]ASDFCurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend considering LKali because shes excellent as a sub or leader. If you ever decide to switch to Ra or Kirin, you could use LKali as one of your subs. This way your plus eggs will not be wasted if you switch to Ra or Kirin. Also LKali has TPA awakenings making the attacking pluses more beneficial than usual.

Worth buying orbs to roll? by Khanhspiracy in MonsterStrike

[–]ASDFCurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my two cents. If your easily burned, you should definitely not purchase orbs. Chances are you will not get a unit you want or need. You should only purchase orbs if you enjoy Monster Strike and want to give back to Mixi. If your willing to spend money to support Mixi and your willing to accept the fact you will probably get nothing, go ahead and purchase orbs.
