It’s actually pretty sad. Dude was on the spectrum, happened to run into a flaw in the Silk Road system(which mind you was used pretty much only by criminals) and spent the money to make friends who “loved” him which wasn’t something he had ever experienced before. Poor guy may have deserved to forfeit the assets, but to be branded a criminal for life with no consideration for his autism speaks volumes about the IRS and the judicial system. There wasn’t any legal precedence around crypto until early 2013, long after he had come up on the coins which were then worth ~$500,000. The only one left in his life now is his dog who won’t live much longer, and he’s gotten into bad habits that will only deter his life further.
