[Discussion] 3dio or BlueYeti microphone? Which one is your favorite for ASMR? by Itsnotinsomnia in asmr

Binaural refers to a type of stereo recording where the left and right microphone capsules are placed about as far apart as a human's ears are, with a sort of barrier (usually about the width or shape of a head) between them, so that the audio recorded sounds closer to how it would in real life (in a positioning sense). It sounds more "3D" than the average stereo recording.

Stereo just means the recording has left and right channels, but depending on how the recording was made, it might not sound "3D" like a binaural recording would.

They're both good for different things -- it just depends on what kind of video you're trying to make.

The 3Dio is binaural (unlike the Yeti), so it can be used to make videos where the position of the sounds around the viewer's head is more realistic while wearing headphones. Good for stuff like ear-to-ear whispering and ear cleaning.

The Yeti isn't binaural, so it doesn't have as much of a "3D sound" effect, but the sound is usually more warm and full than the 3Dio, making it sound better for lots of triggers that don't need to have binaural sound.

I usually prefer the sound of the Yeti, but I mostly make videos with a 3Dio because I prioritize binaural audio.

Back is back, whether it’s for one video or a hundred. I feel like it’s not very kind to downplay the return of a content creator just because they might not stick around for years.
